then why comment?
Also similar to the Drayton MiGenie
This is just the thermostat folks...not the full system. COLD!

If the 'Hive' is like the 'Nest' it works well especially with a smartphone, I dont have one but a very close relative does.
cheers

PRODUCT CONTENTS
Wireless thermostat, receiver, hub, ethernet cable, plug and 4 x batteries.

It's everything except installation.
I love my Hive - just for the pure control (and knowledge of inside temperature whilst away). It looks very neat too.
I didn't buy it to save money. I work away often and this allows me to turn on the heating before I get home. Very convenient.
Great price.

Did you fit yourself? Was it easy?

It depends on your current setup really. I had a wireless thermostat already in place with its own reciever right next to the boiler, so was just a case of swapping the recievers over. If you have a wired thermostat currently, then the reciever needs to replace this thermostat, sited either where it is now, or by tracing tracing/cutting the cable back so you can site it nicely out the way near the boiler. Ultimately it just requires a basic understanding of electrics & wiring diagrams. If you unsure about it, get an electrician in, its only an hours job at max.

As stated above, it is the full system, albeit for heating control only. Try reading in future before you blurt statements like this & voting cold

Happens all the time, lots of sheep following what other people do rather than think for themselves (_;)

Thanks to you and OP, been waiting for it to come back down. Bought
Clearly states it's the full system - great price and a great product - we love ours

It says in the instruction manual that this is for wired thermostat systems only. Can it be used to replace a wireless thermostat?
Is there a list of compatible back plates? Nothing on the install manual.
Yes, an existing wireless thermostat will have a receiver wired to the boiler, you've just got to replace it with the hive receiver. The hive is just another type of wireless thermostat really, with the benefit of it being Internet enabled.

In case it isn't clear to you yet, in the cold light of day your comment seems pointless - a bit like posting to an android phone thread saying "if this is like an iPhone it's great!"
The Nest is great (IMHO), but that doesn't make the Hive great, as they are competitors - not companion products.
Seems a good price, heat added
The existing wireless receiver on my combi boiler is round, the one the instructions from Hive is a square - am I missing something obvious ? (it's not on the incompatible boiler list)
dont want to get this only for the plumber to tell me he cant fit it
Current nPower customers can have the latest gen Nest for £129 which looks to be a good deal too.

From memory the receiver needs to be connected to the mains and a cable (twin) to the boiler and pick up a wifi signal.
It doesn't actually have to be near the boiler but it does make it easier assuming power and wifi are available.
Has Homer Simpson got one of these?
I have used nest and hive
Nest is many times better than hive
Nest also has a humidity sensor, a learning program based on your input and supports ifttt
I initially had hive in my home and nest in my parents
I sold hive on eBay and got a free nest from npower when they were giving it free
Even at this price they are giving it, it's worth every penny

It's the full system.
119 for heating, 125 for heating & hot water on Amazon at present if you don't have a Screwfix nearby or are a lazy Prime member.

The receiver connects to the boiler, and it draws its mains from that. The receiver talks to the hub, which is connected to mains & Lan/wifi. The thermostat or app, then communicate to the receiver via the hub
Hive/ nest are both great, but essentially they give you ability to adjust or turn your heating on/off via an app on your phone. They also let you program the heating schedule better than most thermostats. Plus they both look great lol
I was a bit cynical when I first installed hive but I've got to say that I'm quite impressed.

I've got 3 separate heating zones and it all just works. The system has been very stable as well, only one reset nearly a year (only had 1 zone to start with).

The support has been really good as well

I believe British Gas would come and do the installation - I assume that in the pack there will be a code or voucher that you quote/present to enable the free installation.
