just wondering - what are the benefits of these over the regular thermostats? As long as you turn them down when you're out, have the timer on so it doesn't run while you're away, etc. shouldn't the cost of gas be the same?

Ease of programming, mobile app etc etc

Surely the ability to alter it at short notice is the benefit, many people won't have a set in stone routine with times they will be home. So if it's a particularly cold day and you find yourself on your way home early you can turn it on without being there. Or if you unexpectedly find yourself out all evening you might not need it to come on at all or for as long.

Does this connect wirelessly to your internet ? It says includes ethernet cable, no mention on spec or webpage ?

Or save a hundred quid by turning on your heating when you get in. Im sure all us hardy brits can survive the 15 c temps for 20 mins whilst the central heating warms the house. Brave little soldiers.

Just a gadget, and who doesn't love gadgets

No it needs the hub plugging into your router, I have the version 2 I'm guessing it's the same setup, a box fixes onto your boiler, the hub connects to the router and the thermostat is wireless

Do you have to get a gas fitter to fit it or can you do it yourself?

Until the hub breaks, then it all becomes a PITA...
Geo-locating etc. makes no difference as it's not online.
Can't change the time on the heating as it's not online.
The hub acts as a sort of repeater for the wireless signal between the thermostat and the boiler so even the thermostat might not connect.
Wireless reliability.

Still, it's nice when it works

British gas fit mine but I reckon it would be an easy fit it's only the boiler that needs wiring to

I agree with tech like Echo and Home taking off the need to get out of the chair will become less by the day. However to have all your gadgets and compliances running through a central hub would be kinda cool.

Well thats it, a cool gadget, but just a gadget at the end of the day. I just flick the switc h when I get in and even managed to train the kidsto do it. 100 quid saved

Is that whole kit or just "controls"?
