Just before Christmas I picked up this deal to expand my hive home, which ties in nicely to the recent post from johnwillowlfc for a Hub and two bulbs for £44.99 on Amazon.

If you have a Hive Hub, you can expand with a Smart Active Plug, Motion Sensor and two bulbs for £44 instead of the separate selling cost of £86 - as all orders currently get 1 month free.

If you have a British Gas product including Homecare then you get two months free making it just £40. See post by fishyfish if you are a sky customer to get Homecare free for a year. For all non BG customers it will be via this link which still includes free Christmas lights for £44.

How it works.

- Sign up to the monthly payment of £6.99 - (£2.99 of this includes Hive Live which is not contractable and £4 for product which is 12 months)

- Cancel monthly subscription when product arrives or before payment starts after one/two months trial.

- You will have to pay the product cancel fee of £4 x 11 or 12 months.

Thanks gone for it, not sure what I’ll do with the plug yet, am I lazy enough to hook it up to the coffee machine and turn it on from bed.....
Brilliant. Was looking to buy 2 bulbs and a plug so this is perfect. Will check the small print later
Thanks very much!
I hate the Hive app and website. It's absolutely horrible for configuring each device. You have to now select all the OFF periods in 24 hours as well as the ON periods. I want to smash all the Hive equipment I have when I try and use their software. The way of configuring the ON/OFF periods is totally different on the website to the app, they need to sack their dev team and simplify it all and unify it.

So are you saying i have two months to cancel?
Thank you - useless at this as I'll forget to cancel or something....
Good solid hardware backed up with half baked software effort. No Apple HomeKit support and unintuitive website/apps.

But once you have managed to get everything setup it does tend to do exactly what it is designed for.

2 months free if you are British Gas customer. Otherwise it's one month. Don't forget TCB

Cancel after 15 days and just pay the plan cost for the rest of their year. the only thing I can't work out is if you need to give 30 days notice for the live cancellation?

If you cancel on day 15 you won't benefit from the 1/2 months free.
You will need to call before payment date and call then.

Email confirmation isn’t clear, website says first two months free but confirmation says two months free, doesn’t specify that it’s the first two months. Mine says first payment will be taken today bu I think that maybe prepopulated and isn’t taking into account the first two months free.

If they don’t take a payment now I’ll phone when it arrives and find out if I lose the free months if I cancel straight away. If so I’ll just phone again before first payment is due. If they do take a payment now I’ll just phone and cancel straight away.

I just did chat with them. He says if i join today my first payment will be taken on 2 Feb as my first one is free (non BG). If i cancel after 14 days then i will have to pay for the pack being £44. Usaually £48 but as first month is free. Or £40 if you get two months free

Just ordered it but not had an email confirmation. How long did you wait for an email to come through.
The website states if you cancel after 14 days you’ll have to pay the remaining balance of the payment plan for the devices? Is that without the live part? I’ve wanted this for ages to go with my hive thermostat. Just don’t want to be tied down. So I buy it? Cancel after 14 days then what would I pay to them to settle? Thanks

Glad someone else finds the scheduling a pain. I’m sure it didn’t use to be so akward to set on and off times, did they update and make things worse? Like you say whoever thought this was an improvement should be sacked.
Super deal, just ordered. Thank you so much for sharing.
Checked junk. Never did. Spoke to them this morning and they don't know why either.

See response above
Shame they're E27 bulbs, rather than B22.

I know I can use an adapter, but they protrude out of the lamps that I'm using them for, which makes them a but rubbish.

I'd have used this otherwise.

Thanks @cris.lovell I thought I'd give it a try and search for your name. As I kind of expected, the extra bulb is only for first time customers and I've bought Hive stuff from them before. I thought I'd let you know, just in case you got an email as a result of my attempt

I've already massively ranted at them about it and they ignored me, so screw them and their badly designed user experience.

There is nothing that says it's a limited time offer? Or is there??

I never saw that. How did you get them.
Just ordered but the free xmas lights offer and 1 month free for non-BG customers seems to have finished

I have just spoken to hive, they have confirmed that to cancel, the full amount £6.99 x how many months are remaining will need to be paid when cancelled. Apparently hive live is included but not charged for in the plan.

So for BG customers it will be £69.99 with the two months free
