  • Get notifications if a door or window is opened when you're away
  • Check windows are shut with the Hive app
  • Use with Hive Actions to save on heating & lighting

The Hive Window or Door Sensor makes your home feel safer and secure. You can get notifications straight to your smart device if a door or window is opened while you're away and enjoy peace of mind when you're away from home by checking you've closed your window properly.

Simple to setup, this sensor works with other Hive products using Hive Actions, so you can save on heating and lighting. For example, you could set all your Hive Lights (sold separately) to switch off automatically when you close the front door.
If you click through or buy, retailers may pay hotukdeals some money, but this never affects which deals get posted. Find more info in our FAQs and About Us page.

It's pretty self explanatory. It's a sensor which alerts you if a door or window is opened
Note: I believe this only works if you have a subscription with Hive.

Wow that sucks...
It's so the bee keeper knows when they've left the lid off.

Don't need a hive sub for this to work.
It's a trigger, you can program your hive system to take 'an action' after the sensor has been triggered. You could program it to turn your heating on if the sensor is triggered, in other words when you get home. Or vice versa, turn the heating off... or lights ...or camera ...or plugs.

This is not a stand-alone item - you need a hub. So its an add-on to your existing system or you need to buy a hub.

Please note: A compatible hub (sold separately) is required to connect your smart home device
How does it know if you are coming or going?
I dunno man...I'm tech savvy but this area makes me think we're not being smart with our money on these "smart" devices...maybe just me...

No subscription needed just a hub and whatever devices you want to control via hub
I tried these as a DIY alarm and they are pants.. Takes weird batteries that don't seem to last mine went after about 6 months. Range is ok but if its the other side of the house from your hub they struggle i.e rear porch light and my front room as the hub so two brick walls and it loses signal all the time.

I think if you want a trigger for say a light so motion sensor turns light on but you can wire up a motion sensor specifically for that cheaper than these. The bulbs are good as long as they are in range but I'm not a fan of the sensors.
Don't forget that you can use ifttt to seriously increase usefulness of these. Not everyone's cup of tea, but with ifttt these systems can (mostly) all work together to suit your needs.
