Info on Oreo

I like the phone I'm using it now but I'll be going back to my Xiaomi note 4 for it's longer battery life.

Strange that people voting cold. This price is the lowest since Dec/Nov for the 64GB model. Maybe they mistaking price with the 32GB model.. shame

Go on, it's Saturday and I'm feeling generous so will bite. Then put you on ignore...

en.m.wikipedia.org/wik…omi

Xiaomi has 15,000 employees[2] in China, India, Malaysia,[12]Singapore and is expanding to other countries such as Indonesia, the Philippines and South Africa.[13][14]Lei Jun, the founder and CEO, has an estimated net worth of US$6.8 billion. He is China's 24th richest person in 2017. Xiaomi is the world's 4th most valuable technology start-up after it received US$1.1 billion funding from investors, making Xiaomi's valuation more than US$46 billion.[15]
Excellent stock android phone if you don't mind the screen. Pretty detailed review I recommend:

Before you start talking about this manufacturer, do your homework. They aren't your run of the mill cheap Chinese company!
Still waiting on my first and last geek buying purchase (another phone)
As far as I can tell they don't hold stock. Order the item themselves, then ship to you.
Over a month now.

Never again.

Bang good in comparison was 10 days.
I got one of these took 26 days to arrive great phone
I ordered from Lightinthebox" at the end of November after seeing a deal here. Paid £130 for 32GB model. Finally arrived on 6th Jan. Tracking next to useless. OTOH wasn't expecting a quick delivery.

I am a light user and find the battery lasts for at least 24 hours. I get a stronger signal than my old phone (a Sony). So far reasonably happy. Hopefully nothing will go wrong as I expect sending it back would be a nightmare.

What a halfwit. Bet you spend over odds on Samsung and apple tat.
Updated to Oreo but after pulling down notifications, unable to dismiss it via pulling up but by pressing the back key.
Saving a bookmark in Hermit reboots my mobile consistently.
The Oreo update has been withdrawn. I guess they released it to keep their commitment but didnt do enough testing.
I find the Nokia 5 has better reception compared with the MiA1.
Hope this helps someone.

Philips, is the correct pronunciation I think... Or is that just for the lighting manufacturing side of the business?
This is a lot of phone for the money to be honest you can't really beat it for the money.
Doesn’t this phone have a high SAR level compared to most others though?

Not much more that iPhone 7, within the legal limits. Keep away from head while sleeping.
I wouldn't recommend to under 16 year olds, airing on side of caution. But I am no expert in SAR head.

For those of you who do not want to part with your cash to a chinese website (I have bought plenty from these sites so it is not a dig at them!) I have just purchased a maze alpha phone from Amazon for £160. It is a big phone and rather heavy although I am now used to it but I have to say it is magnificent. The screen is great, the battery is phenomenal and it just works out of the box - everything that I expected and more! Just a recommendation and an alternative!

But how are they at issuing updates/supporting their phones? When I first got into Chinese mobiles i bought an Elephone P6000 because it seemed to have the best bang per buck. Soon realised there's more to it than bang per buck, many Chinese phone manufacturers simply do not support their phones properly. Elephone definitely don't whereas Xiaomi do. How about Maze?
This is a decent price for this phone. I have bought 32GB model for 137£’s. Voted hot.
Is this better than the Redmi Note 4? Bought a 3gb (I know this is the 4GB model) version and I'm quite impressed.

Well I'd be surprised if you got any signal under that rock, so no point you having a phone isn't it.
I recently bought it from aliexpress for £157 it is currently £156 : aliexpress.com/ite…X2d
Will this "official global version" play well with all UK networks?

Yes it is but I doubt you would get better battery performance than your redmi note 4 but everything else would be better. An example would be your redmi note 4 will give roughly 7hr 30 mins screen on time and Mi A1 roughly 6hr 20 mins.

Was hoping that the flaws in the camera would be fixed with an update before I jumped.

Does anybody know if any apps help address the low problem, not a deal breaker but would like S8 performance for Xiaomi money

Damn. I got the 4GB ram 64GB storage on route to me. £132
I bought this exact phone for £145 usibg the ebay voucher a few weeks ago - I cant say enough good things about it - its as fast as my wifes iphone8 wich cost nearly £700 - and will be a lot less upset at this price when I finally drop it as I always do
