The second of two spin-offs launched by the hugely popular television series 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation', 'CSI: New York' distinguishes itself with an even darker, grittier tone than either of its predecessors by grounding the action in the gloomy aftermath of post-9/11 New York. The always brilliant Gary Sinise anchors the series as sternly professional former-Marine police detective Mac Taylor, whose stoic exterior masks the pain of losing his wife in the World Trade Centre attacks. Taylor's forensics team includes his tough-as-nails partner, Stella Bonasera (Melina Kanakaredes); the sexy but street-smart investigator Aiden Burn (Vanessa Ferlito); no-nonsense tough guy Don Flack (Eddie Cahill); smart-aleck detective Danny Messer (Carmine Giovinazzo); and the briskly efficient coroner, Sheldon Hawkes (Hill Harper). Bathed in sombre, blue-tinged cinematography, the spin-off emphasises well-drawn character development without sacrificing any of the grisly criminal and scientific elements that made its parent show such a smashing success.

I have trouble telling these generic cop/forensic shows apart.

Interesting how all 5 seasons are on one disc according to hmv :-)

Not only should you not have voiced a negative opinion in this topic aimed at helping those who like the show, you're also utterly incorrect.

Please keep your moronic opinions out of these sort of topics.

About 78 hours worth? That's a much more sensible price.
I've kept away from NY and Miami CSI's with their ridiculous pricing schemes.

Great show and good deal, would buy if I didnt have 1-4 already

Yeah it seemed a bit harsh!

Never watched CSI but like Criminal minds, Bones, House, 24, etc. how does CSI stack up to them?

NY is the best out of the franchise IMO. Miami is too glamourised, the actors/actoresses are far too good looking to pass off as CSIs. NY has the right mix of actors/storyline/technology

I know what to ask OH to get me for xmas now :-D

A tenner a season is much more like it! Hot!!

Great price, Ordering one now

Hot!!

This is a great buy for what i agree is the best of the CSI's although i do love Vegas as well. Sadly i already have all the seasons on dvd.

i'll wait for the bluray version, dont see the use in dvds any more (i know bluray players aint cheap)

I really like all those (although not too sure about Bones), CSI Las Vegas is my favourite, but I haven't really got into NY yet - although i've heard a lot of people say its the best. Tempted by the boxset myself.

Law and Order : Criminal Intent is also a good one to add to that list (and special victims unit if you can stand Ice-T's poor acting - luckily he isn't in it much ;))

All the best,
Ash
