Car Hire: Holiday Autos Jan Sale - 10,000 cars from £4.99 per day

Holiday Autos annual sale is live. Usually a good time to use them to secure a good deal on car hire from the bigger suppliers (Hertz, Avis, Enterprise). Think you can get extra … Read more

Had a poor experience with these jokers over extra charges in a US car hire booking. my mistake was being foolish enough to think that they would be of help to you in the event of any difficulty. they basically refused to help - after some very little enquiries saying that 'the problem was between me and the car hire firm' . I'm pretty sure that consumer law says that when making a purchase through a vendor you are entering into a contract with them? I know that the booking concerned a US hire, but I still paid 'Holiday Autos' and they have been very poor. Just thought I'd echo the comments above about checking very carefully who the actual provider is when you book.

just did a search there and not a single car was offered at the £4.99 price. COLD!

and don't buy any extras which some company's try to make you think you have to, buy car hire excess insurance beforehand on the net, its cheap, you can risk not having any but i think its not worth the risk for what it costs.

@tinca There seems to be a lot available at that price, e.g. here

I am looking for a couple of rentals for Florida this year, only checked Easter 12 night trip, £321, most expensive I have found so far, plus they have an excess in the event of a claim, other quotes I have don't. You can remove the excess at a fee of £2.99/day, thats another £36, £357 total, for full size car. Even with 20% off its still way too much. Hope someone finds a deal.

I used these when I went to Ireland in December and had a car from a company called 353Ireland (I think) and the car I got had out of date road tax by 6 months!, only one headlight and more scratches and dents than were reported on the paperwork. Personally I wouldn't use this company again and would pay extra and use a well known car hire.

We used Holiday Autos when we went to Spain last summer. Despite paying for the extra insurance, we still had to pay more once we arrived for the full waiver. We'll be dealing direct with a car-hire company this year :(

please search others tried this yesterday and they were so expensive. best deal I could find for where we are going was carhire3000 they were over £200 cheaper.

Have had also bad experience with Holiday autos, so this summer for my trip to Lisbon I tried to book directly from car rentals companies, contacted about 6-7 companies, but still couldn't get any car, absolutely sold out. Had no choice, had to seek brokers' help again since they have special agreements with agents and have better chances to get a car. Everything went more or less smoothly except they charged me twice and I haven't had all my money I counted with on my accunt till they returned it back. So it depends on location and obstacles, sometimes brokerr are irreplacable.

Quick example of holiday autos, A month ago I was in Sydney Australia, booked through holiday autos online the agent they used were thrifty, upon collection of car holiday autos had not got the booking through to thrifty. Which meant no car :x EVEN THOUGH HOLIDAY AUTOS TOOK THE MONEY 2 weeks ago upon collecting the car from redspot in Melbourne Australia the plastic wheel trim/hubcap fell off within 10mins of leaving the depot....on a rush hour freeway!, even though I had full cover through holiday autos you still have to pay the excess and then claim it back later (if you meet the correct criteria!) this time it was $750 (£325) Better shopping around direct, oh and the 24 hour support number i think is 1 bloke with a mobile....if someone else is calling you go to voice mail :x not what you need .

Anyone got any other linky's? Im off to Ayia Napa in August and wouldn't mind hiring a car for a couple of days :)

Its quoting me 82 quid for a renault clio for 2 days in august!

Got a much better deal from easycar, £140 for 10 days at the end of August + 10% quidco cashback, making it £126 (£12.60 per day) Got an even better deal 2 years ago - £60 for a weeks hire and £10 quidco cashback, making it £50 for a week! Then when we arrived we got a free upgrade on the car too :) ....although that was in November, when prices are cheaper

whats the alternative to third party?

Vouchers still working. Booked car hire from Geneva for 4 days: Quidco+Virgin money+HAUK5

Both vouchers (virgin money link + HAUK5) still working & 9% cashback via topcashback. Enter the site from topcashback Paste over with the virgin money link Add the discount code Cheap!

Worked a treat, will see if Quidco tracks as well....heat and rep added!

VERY new to this. How exactly did you paste the link over the URL after you had gone to Holiday autos from quidco? I tried all ways and got nowhere. Would be nice to get both discounts, but if I can only get one I'll go for the 15%. Give my best to Yorkshire - I'm in stifling heat in Spain.

If you click on the link provided the site states the price with 15% already taken off. You can check this by doing it normally or checking I booked using a debit card as it had a 2% surcharge for credit, the price didn't change throughout the checkout.

Voted cold for me, looking for Faro in Portugal, nothing came up when I clicked the link, I've called the helpline and got a very unhelpful guy saying that maybe the Faro deals (on an offer claiming to run from today till the 17th) have 'run out'

Don't forget £10 quidco too. Heat added as works out lots cheaper for me now.

You evidently have a problem with spelling as well as your other problems.

And when was the last time you were in China? I've only had great service there.

Sorry, I had the smallest 'compact' size (i'm travelling on a small budget!) but, it was larger than my standard car in the UK! lol. US 'compact' = UK full size ford mondeo size! I had a Dogde calibare, awesome high powered car. More than enough room for 4 people, although boot space was limited, so would probably go for a large size car if you want to take more than 2 people and gear! But upgrades = £2 extra for the next size up, £5 for the next and £7 for the next, so it's still cheap!

From my experience most of their 'partners' in US are Alamo and National (which seem to always be in the same office here).

Well looked for a car for next weekend from Nottingham and the cheapest is a Range Rover at £632 for the day to a Lamborghini Gallardo Roadster at £1384 and thats not cheap as I can hire one for less than a grand!

Voted cold, you can get a cheaper rental from enterprise atleast for Bristol area.

This is not that cheap i hired a car from hertz for £42 for 4 days last month and £8 quidco paid out fast so £34 for the 4 days. I hired the car for newquey airport and it was a ford fiesta and i had no trouble at all try hertz.

Bit hard to get it on the plane though:whistling: You could try selling it to Sleazy Jet though:thumbsup:
