Lot of reviews say dont eat the wasp infested food and it's miles from anywhere.

ivan83

It is one of the least developed areas. Which makes the place really worth going . On the the top of that it is in a close proximity the few of the best beaches in Bulgaria - Silistar for example

daz_75

15kg luggage 😁 my wife would use that up in shoes alone

absolutebeginner

Actually, this seems to be a good deal if you are looking for a smaller resort/remote location, etc. Golden Sands is a large resort so might not suit you... Sunny Beach is even larger but both have so many activities for children so very good in that regard. Bulgaria has large resorts but also small/quiet ones so it is up to you.

Riu only do two types of hotel - even the Riu Palace (the slightly more upmarket version) is full if people whose idea of a good holiday is unlimited drink. They also generally sit on quite a small footprint, making it even harder to escape the drunks.

BealBocht

Perhaps the (many) Rius I've stayed in were just more upmarket than the ones you've found yourself in?

gwiddecombe

Took us about 40 -45 minutes

buzzard

You are talking about the development company - they have a higher stake in the company that operates the hotels, although you are right they dont own them. Still if you've never seen anyone drunk in a Riu hotel you've never been to one, despite many claims online about the drinks being watered down. I've seen people sitting at the pool bar for hours - just think what goes in that pool - and being put into a wheelchair to get back to be taken back to their room after falling over drunk.

Nexustar

Stayed at this hotel last month over Easter with the family. I would say it is closer to a 4star rather than a true 5star hotel but was fantastic place to stay. The location is slightly remote but with a beautiful dark sand beach with warm sea water and wildlife around I could not complain. The weather was fantastic and being close to the equator there was 12 hours sun every day. Important to pack lots of sunblock and insect repellent as the hotel charged 62USD per bottle! Food was of a good quality although the a la carte restaurants had a frustrating queuing system whereby you had to stand outside about 5.30pm to reserve a table when they opened at 6 or 6.30pm and they were often fully booked (but partially full) by 7pm. Shame as this really took away from the hotel. There is also a club and casino in the complex which I didn't test. There is the Diamante adventure park next door for activities such as zip lining and quad biking. It also has a small zoo and butterfly sanctuary which I found worthwhile with the kids for USD42 per person. A lot of guests leave for excursions each day so the hotel never felt full. A couple of dollars tip early on earned really good service through out. Overall would recommend this place and country. The price is a bargain accepting it is moving into the rainy season.

Looks good to me, out of interest I tried the following week which is school hols and it shoots up to £1300ish, such a shame they do that !

sheffield788

Voted hot, almost school holidays. Weather towards the end of May in Bulgaria should be fine. The 'official' season opens on 1st of June. It can be about 20-25 during the day and about 5 degrees less during the night. However, can still be unpredictable and rain can be expected. Good price.

I went earlier in the year to Hammamet (not this hotel) Was nice sunny weather, people were all fine - aside from the usual souk hagglers. Felt very safe - even got a local train to Sousse (not really worth visiting imo) If you read/speak some French it works wonders. Same as anywhere, dress modestly and don't take lots of valuable/cash.

The cheapest I can find at the moment for the start of july is with love holidays and flying from stansted with Ryanair £311pp - £1245 total with baggage and transfers and all inclusive, be quick though because prices fluctuate ridiculously on this site. loveholidays.com/book/flight-and-hotel/offer-summary.html?shortref=GBE2PUZC&ch=ice I've also found a jet2 package flying from stansted to the Canaries, fuerteventura, it's slightly more expensive at £479pp but it comes with a free child place which brings the total down to £1437, this flies on the 30th June and comes with complimentary resort check in. Use the code 100off to get this price. jet2holidays.com/free-child-place-finder/results?airport=99&date=30-06-2019&duration=7&occupancy=r2c14_13&destination=151_150_149_154_153_155_152_1746_129_139_156_160_159_161_1584_157_1719_1424_1281_169_1748_1335_1243_918_103_1364_97_99_95_98_1747_94_1360_131_1815_1773_1452_1497_69_892&sortorder=1&page=1&boardbasis=5

It’s probably worth mentioning that some councils are looking to increase the fine to £1000. In fact one council already has done that I believe. From what I’m aware, the fines are not all the same for every council when taking children out of school.

That certainly looks more like the web address I used a while back, the con website charge $69 for their "help" and you still have to pay for the price of a visa on top...lol. Thank you mods for removing the offending link.

Is this the correct Link ?

trannyboy

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTACES USE THE LINK ABOVE TO BUY A VISA FOR TURKEY. THE OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT WEBSITE CHARGES $20US FOR THE VISA, THE ABOVE LINK CHARGES AT LEAST $69US AND ARE A THIRD PARTY WHO MAY OR MAY NOT GET YOU ONE. THIS LINK SHOULD BE REMOVED AS IT IS A BLATANT CON.

I was there last year from the 10th of April for a week and the weather was fab. Never had to wear anything more than T-shirts and shorts. The water parks don't fully open till start of May.

Uranus

Sorry but this is not a good deal. As others have stated, this is out of season hence the pools and the sea will be too cold to swim. I would expect a better quality hotel for that price at that time of year.

I went a year back with no food poisioning neither did my wife. We were careful not to drink the tap water . Have to agree with the pervs comments would not go anywhere near this hole again also a dirty place once you get past marble frontage. *If you want to get ripped off, suffer food poisoning, get subjected to sexaul comments and have pervs looking at your kids great place to go. All my own experiences *.

TiscaliSurvivor

I was in Sharm in 1977 - lovely seas, brilliant place totally safe - slept on the beach and watched Jackals. Hotels fantastic. A few months later the Israeli Defence Force tanks and troops withdrew and I wouldn't go near the place...

nadinesiddle

Totally understand the safety concerns, but to call Egyptians pervs is abseloutely disgusting and racist. I am half Egyptian myself and can safely say that none of my family are pervs! Very narrow minded comment yozzas.

Captain.Banana

Great if you like shell collecting !!

Mimlloyd

Been twice in recent years to 5* hotel resorts in Egypt and couldn't fault them. But the airports .... Bung the security £10 to fast track through the security lines and not get baggage checked. If you do go through the scanners most staff aren't really paying attention so anything dodgy can easily be missed. And on our last visit my husband and a couple of other men were stopped by security at the departure door to go to the plane and told they'd miss the plane unless they paid some money. Because of this I've lost all confidence in visiting Egypt again.
