Seems like a cheap January getaway. If you can grin and bare RyanAir :| Credit to original poster on Holiday Pirates

I flew with Ryanair to Lanzarote in July, easily the worst flight I've ever been on in my life. The staff were clueless, the cleanliness of the plane was disgusting and the comfort was non existent.

htfc99

Great hotel. Can’t go wrong with H10 especially for AI. However better booking direct, register with them they always do Black Friday vouchers for min 20% off every year.

CarlosBricktop

As I said in the description - if you can bare RyanAir, I personally wouldn't, however - but for what it is; a cheap 5* break in January, it may benefit some people but it's not for everyone. We've established Ryanair are poor, so do your homework before you book - take precautions, use credit card to book, not your debit card .. etc.

rogparki

Why would you trust Ryanair to actually get you there ? They cancel the flight (as they very often do for the weakest of reasons ) -How do you then get to your hotel ? Sorry - seen it too often - folks holidays being ruined by cheap ,unreliable Ryanair flights :( . If its your holiday , NEVER ! trust it to Ryanair - if its business fair enough .

waterloo

Terrible deal the flight were £3 last week and the hotel can be had for much cheaper.

Check hotel prices BEFORE booking flights. Accommodation is often expensive.

The sea isn't too cold in the winter, it's as warm as the uk gets in the summer and is warmer than unheated pools. I had a good hour in the sea on Christmas day in Tenerife and there was loads of people swimming including kids to.

katya1971

These flights are awesome but the accomodation prices are extortionate. Im coming home next week from tenerife and looking to book for my next trip, but im loathed to be paying the over inflated prices being quoted..my search continues.

MEGAONE

We try our best to go to Lanzarote in Dec for a few days. Usually go Dec9-14th water freezing however daytime temps are usually between 19c-24c .Lovely to be sitting outside eating in Dec.

Went for the first time in 2014 as a one-off, you know, a cross it off the bucket list type thing. Next June will be my 8th time since then. :D

This. Hoping to go for the 11th time next summer. Love the place. Just hoping that the exchange rate doesn't plummet any further come next March.

timtamd

If you’ve been to Vegas you know resort fees have to be paid and no travel agents include them in there prices it’s just a little note in the terms. Not the best price I’ve ever seen especially for time of year but heat anyway cos it’s a cheap enough getaway with direct flights.

Once in Vegas, it can be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be but if you are worried about $200 resort fees, Vegas probably isnt for you.

Agreed it is odd and not something I would normally go for myself but went with some friends and was a lot better than expected, doesn't beat having your own room though with an ensuite. The zoo wasn't to bad, do a river sight seeing cruise and of you like a good select of beer check out Proeflokaal Arendsnes.

alexjameshaines

That's good but still seems odd to me. Thanks for the extra info. As you have been here, any recommendations for places to go?

burntoast

SRated here before not as bad as it seems. They are very clean and the showers are essentially individual rooms as are the toilets.

I travel regularly to USA and have never been asked to declare that I’ve been to Turkey, in fact I can only recall one occasion where they actually looked at the pages in my passport. So for the benefit of those that might have been scared by this comment - Turkey is an EU country and unless you snuck over the border to Afghanistan, the fact you went there for a holiday and are now coming to visit Disneyland will be of no interest to US immigration. With the esta system they know who you are and all about you and your travels before you get on the plane. They would refuse or refer an ESTA if they had concerns.

Ryanairs days are numbered, soon be out of business.

fifthcolumn

Spot on..Ryanair cancelled our flights from Zurich to Rhodes in August, as they've done with hundreds of other flights over the last 2 summers due to scheduling issues, lack of planes, industrial action etc . Many travel insurers do not cover Ryanair related disruptions and it's a mission trying to get any help from Ryanair Customer Services. I suspect a pattern where Ryanair is quick to cancel flights where operational costs outweigh any hit they would take on EC 261 related claims so routes with low load factors are more likely to be effected. If you book these super cheapy flights, make sure that any hotel bookings, car rental etc you make are fully refundable. Caveat emptor!

skyhigh5

We had 3 major delays and 2 cancellation within last 2 months. Unfortunately there is no compensation.

adam_holcombe

Am particularly excited to visit Frankfurt...

The second leg is 35 hours long...

jsty3105

Trying in Langkawi is much easier than driving on UK roads - the roads there are a lot wider. Yeah, bag snatching still is a very big problem in KL. The problem there is petty crime is too random and can turn violent too often. Lots of night markets around Langkawi as well. This bakery is worth a visit - https://www.langkawi-insight.com/langkawi_0000d9.htm The Loaf. Good selection of buns that are very tasty.

diddly08

Yes we were in KL last year for few days before we flew to Kuching. Going to hire a car this time for Langkawi as its just like uk roads. Missed the night market last year but did do the street markets in KL. fabulous smells and sights and no bother even though we were warned about bag snatching etc on mopeds. Need to do sky bridge in Langkawi.

jsty3105

Too bad you're not longer in KL to experience more food and shopping. Langkawi itself is a paradise for duty free stuff, particularly beer and chocolates. Thanks to the exchange rate, you're probably looking at 50p per can of beer and you can get stronger stuff than what;s available in the UK. Seafood is pretty much universally great there and you can get around the island fairly easily using cabs. Try the grilled fish - known as ikan bakar in Malaysia. Lots of tourists around most times of the year and the locals pretty much all speak English. Some locals are even British/European people that have settled in Langkawi to run their pub or restaurant.

Holiday for 4 Holiday is £170pp Plus Visa makes $20 £190 Transfer £20 each = private taxi each way £210 If you need an extra bag for £55 to share is £14 each. You just don’t need tonnes of luggage for 1 week in the sun. so I think it’s more like £224pp

oppkuk

(1) £208 holidays pp (2) £55 luggage pp (3) £20 hotel transfer pp (4) £20 visa pp Total= £303 pp Based on 2 people sharing, sometimes advertised price can be deceptive , do your calculations , it all adds up.

myusernamehasgone234

Few bikinis and flip flops won’t take up much luggage so I don’t think you need to add on £55 per person luggage. Local transfers will be cheapest. I did did mention the visa requirement in the op. perhaps more like £200 per person for 4

oppkuk

And factor in cost for luggage £55 pp and £20 for hotel transfer , so for couple £208 and about £20 for visa pp , total £303 pp It is a bargain ?

No state of emergency eh??? https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/turkey the following is a direct quote from the U.K government so you keep watching that telly. "The situation has calmed following an attempted coup on 15 to 16 July 2016. But the security environment remains potentially volatile and a state of emergency is in place."

From_the_Midlands

Look for other deals on HUKD to get yourself a telly or maybe a radio. You really need to know about current affairs. Been to the country and found no state of emergency in the cities I visited. By far, it was best holidays for us.

we had a family holiday in side turkey in October and loved it, the staff where very helpful and loved the private beach , didn't see any trouble at all and was very impressed with security at the airport bags were checked 3 times including complete removal of all content and repacked all backs that where being carried on the plain , ive never seen that before. One note there were only 1 other English family in our hotel 90% german some French and Spanish just might have been our hotel, didn't bother us tho.
