It might be cheap but it tastes not to bad at all, I prefer it to carling. 90p for 4 cans. Avalible in store or online.

This is not nice at all - 3% vol - rather drink home brew!

Well, I'm a bit of a beer conisseur (I work in the Tetley brewery in Leeds) so know what i'm talking about.

In my view Hollandia pours to a pale, watery, straw-yellow colour under a billowing head of white foam that collapses before you can say 'poof!'. There's very little lace - no more than a wispy ring.

The aroma doesn't exactly leap from the glass and dive up your nostril. It reminds me of many euro-lagers - grainy husk, some floral tones, and a creeping suspicion of cooked vegetables. At least it's not overpowering.
It's light bodied and moderately carbonated giving it a relatively smooth mouth feel. The taste is quite sweet upfront, with a good malt profile, although this soon fades into the background. It's a little grainy, and there's a definite hint of fruit, but what sort of fruit is indistinguishable - could be apples, could be pears, could even be pomegranates for all I know/care. It turns more and more bitter towards the finish with only the faintest hint of floral hops, and leaves a harsh, dry, and not altogether pleasant aftertaste.

The Verdict -

Nothing great - even at 90p for 4 cans! - (Not worth leaving your Kronenburg for) If your looking for budget larger I would recommend Tesco value lager over this pretentious wannabe. It retails at 88p for four cans so a 2p saving on this offering!

On blind taste tests (think back to the old blind cola test you did at school) the value lager scored highly!

Get out there and try it - its underrated but a good.

I shall give the Tesco cheapie a try.....where can you get the results of the blind taste tests?
Like everything beer/wine related...it all comes down to personal taste...and I only stated my preference over Carling. I normaly drink real ales, but for a change and recession driven economics thought what the hell I will try anything once.....and for the price.....well.
So folks I am off to tesco and will let you know how the taste test goes...

Thanks freebiehunter for the info.

Just been on the tesco site and their Value lager is 90p and only 2%. So I shall not be going out my way for that one after all.
