I've never pressed the heat button so passionately.
It’ll be the best £6.59 you spend on gaming this year.

Thanks for the heads up. I’m so glad I didn’t buy this yesterday
Great game but beware, gets devilishly hard at the end although it's all optional.
Absolutely great game. Lots of gameplay for the price, but my god it's difficult in places.
It’s getting hot in here. 🔥
Such a good game. I bought it on sale some time ago... I've done about 22 hours on it and still got plenty to go so be aware, it may take some time to get through it!

I hear many, many good things about this game so am seriously tempted to nab it at this price. It'll be sat in my backlog for a while before I get to it though... Good spot OP!
I’m lost in this game, loving every minute of it though 🔥
Got this the last time it went on sale, got a little into it then got distracted by other titles but will be jumping right back in after Links Awakening

Which other ones did you go for?
Played on PC a while ago, confirmed a great game, as offers have said it's hard compared to other games but not unfair.

Celeste, Bastion and Transistor.
Thank you for posting @pirate1 we have added your thread to the Highlights section
If there is one game you should pay full price for its this!
Absolutely incredible.
Hollow Knight is the best metroidvania this generation. Don't @ me!
Incredible game all round. Took me 47 hours to complete it and didn’t even do most of the DLC. Going for 100%
Best metroidvania ever
Awesome! Been holding off hoping this comes on sale. Purchased
Great price, but the game is too difficult for me. I got it last time it was on sale and although beautiful I got a few hours in and got stuck on a boss and haven't picked the game up again since.

I think thats why I put it down as well. Metroidvania isn't one of my favourite genres so add the fact that it feels punishingly difficult at times and it was an easy put down for me.

Saying that though I have Ori preloaded after absolutely loving the demo. Maybe that game will get me to like metroidvanias and i may pick Hollow Knight up again. Who knows?

Great price on this though so heat added.

Oooh Ori looks great, I will check out the demo, feels like it might be more of a platformer too. I also loved Yoku's Island Express with the pinball/platformer combo, although once I got to the ball throwing plants section the controls are way too difficult so progress slowed.
Purchased and spent a few hours jumping, slashing and getting lost.

Is that how this game should be?

Sounds like the experience I had with it too . Emphasis on the getting lost.
I've now progressed to finding every corner of the map and can't see how to progress.....
I cant understand the love for this game, played it for 6 hours and thought it was okay, just a bit samey and a tad depressing.

Much prefer SW dig 2 but will keep trying this game to see if it clicks with me.

I've played bits and pieces for a while but put it down to play other games. Many say that it really clicks after around 10hrs though and that's where it makes sense and opens up. Have really enjoyed what I've played so far though.
Loved this. I felt like I was playing something truly special throughout. It’s beautifully bleak, and the soundtrack is incredible. Sometimes I’d just sit at the save points and enjoy the music.

That said, I can empathise with the people who repeatedly got lost (me too) and who spent hours trying to beat a single boss (me too). I completely gave up on the arena; the amount of time and patience the game expects you to dedicate was too much for me.

I also feel like the game is repeatedly praised for being non-linear, but it does lead to situations where you genuinely have no idea what to do next. Whereas in Metroid, for example, you’ll unlock item X and realise you can suddenly access area Y, Hollow Knight becomes almost maze-like, with no idea if a tiny little gap in a wall will yield a single room or an entire new area.

The travel points are also too far apart, with lots of needless backtracking (which only exacerbates the ‘not knowing where to go next’ frustration).

Personally, I took to writing little notes on my phone (e.g. “hole in the ceiling, need double jump”), and that helped a lot.

Anyway, yes, gripes aside, it really is - in short - bloody brilliant

So I bought this and I've played for 45 mins and I'm so bored, think I've fallen asleep twice. Does it get any better or is it more of the same? Do e-shop do refunds?

edit: no they don't

They usually give one refund per account if you justify why you are unhappy. 45 minutes is probably not enough to judge this game by though and, as per the comments above, it takes a good while to get into.
I must keep to my rule of only buying games I'll play straight away..... Playing through secret of mana right now

I'm waiting for that to drop in price for a physical version
One of the best games ever made. Extremely tough but rewarding, beautiful music throughout, incredible hand drawn backgrounds throughout. Then there’s the superb and often cruel lore, the eerie and dark atmosphere...oh god it’s so good. Even at full price I feel like team cherry are asking for too little. Seriously guys, give it a proper chance, have fun exploring, if you get too stuck have a look online for tips and advice. And be sure to always find the map guy and buy his maps.
