( First post - but had so many good deals from this site, thought I'd best contribute.) In Netto this morning found Hollybush Butter at 50p per pack. OK - blended butter from more than one country but only contains butter and salt - as normal. Would prefer Anchor or Lurpak but at this price............ Max. 10 packs per customer. Availability unknown but guessing at national. Also remember butter freezes well and as it comes in blocks its easy to stack in your freezer.

Does it matter where it has come from? Both Lurpak and Anchor are imported from Scandanavia. Buy Country Life - its the only brand that is 100% made in Britain!

Just to say Country Life 250g is 2 for £1.60 at Tesco.

Plus I learn something new every day, as I didn't previously realise that New Zealand was part of Scandinavia.

Hollybush comes from the EU butter mountain!
FWIW, Anchor comes from New Zealand, not Scandinavia, so has been half way round the world! On the plus side Anchor cows are 100% free range and graze all year round. (The company that sells Anchor in the UK is indeed scandinavian, though)

Hey it can come from the moon if it means i'm not being ripped off,Been using it for a year now very nice butter.

FWIW, it is frozen in large blocks in New Zealand then shipped to Denmark and Sweden where it is packed. The ads don't tell you that (I used to work for Arla).

FWIW IMHO the Country Life is the best tasting, textured and spreading "budget" butter :whistling:

The others are fine as spreads and for cooking, but do your tastebuds a favour, buy Hollybush from Netto and Country Life on offer at Tesco and then do yourself a "blind tasting"

You need three bits of toast, put one butter on two, the other on the last piece and then get family members to rank them 1, 2 and 3....

See which comes out consistently the best.

With the difference in price for 250g being 30pence, you might decide that the extra money is worth paying.... :w00t:

or if you find that you and yours can't tell the difference, then consistently buy the Hollybush

Voted hot- brill for baking ty
