Its a small section at the back end of the store, where freshly made bakery products are now being made in store.
They are even under-cutting Lidl's prices!

Small Pain Au Chocolat - 10p
Sandwich Baguette - 10p
Tiger Roll - 20p
Ciabatta - 10p
Iced Ring Doughnuts (strawberry / chocolate) - 25p

And a few more items available.
Great prices and really nice products too.

Hope they roll this out across their stores. Is their bakery as good as Lidl though ?

It appears to be a 1 machine bakery thing. Its not the best set-up in the store, just a shelf with the products on trays and a big bakery machine next to it.
But... the good are very tasty, breads and and sweets are very nice, fresh, very cheap and very tasty.
So I'm happy!

I have feeling its maybe a trial to see how well it does, and for me its doing very well!
You can't make it yourself for the prices they are charging!

I will get a photo tomorrow and some more prices.
I'm very impressed though, i hope they do roll it out nation wide.

Our store has introduced frozen goods, chilled goods, fresh fruit, fresh veg etc...
We seem to be a bit of a flagship store

Don't think Lidl needs to worry.

mucky potatoes at home bargains are the best

I love Lidl's bakery too, we have a new one in our Southport Lidl store too and they have a much wider selection.
But Home bargains is a great alternative and is cheaper for some products.
Lidl's baguette and ciabatta breads are both almost twice as expensive to Home Bargains and similar quality.

Home bargains haven't gone as far as goats cheese focaccia and veg pizza etc... but its a great start and seems to be doing well!
I hope they make a bigger selection soon

O M G!!
I need to pay a visit!! Thanks op, voted hot hot hot!

Haha there will be nothing left next time i go in!
Please post your review back in here once you've tried it, id like to see other peoples opinions.
I don't work there or anything, just interested to see how people compare it to other places.
Im very surprised ALDI haven't joined the fresh bakery bandwagon yet!

I've seen it in another store so might start to become national

oO Is this just select stores only?

great to know for my once a month trips to Southport tasty snacks for the family saving us more pennies for the blooming arcades

The Fruit and Veg was good too.
Got a mixed pack of peppers (3) for 89p and a bunch of 5 decent sized bananas for 69p.
Very limited selection again, but seems to be them trialling it out to see if it works or not.

sounds great hope liverpool city centre get one

The mystical 'bakery machine'.

Also known as an oven...

They have had an in-store bakery at their head office shop for months now so they must be rolling out to other stores. I presume some stores now have fridge and freezer sections too because they have them at the L11 store.

ooohhhh so excited ..hope our local gets a bakery area ..yum yum ..(salivating)...yes Lidls bakery is scrummy but a bit of competition all good

I work for them, they're going to be opening their new distribution centre down south in September and after that I think they'll be even more southern stores coming it's a good company

You may well be a flagship store, but our local home bargains (Sheffield Penistone Rd) has had frozen, chilled and fresh fruit/veg for quite a while now. No idea about bakery it didn't have one last time I was in there a couple of weeks ago.

Awesome, amazing how HB are expanding!

Our HB doesnt even have a freezer section in MK they have limited veg though so might be catching up soon.
although not sure our store is big enough

I like how excited you are about this

It seems to vary between stores. The Leigh retail park store has had freezers and fridges for months but the town centre store ,which is also pretty big, doesn't

Looks like I'm the only one who isn't excited about this! I like HB as a pre-pack store cupboard and household bargain store. The more they try to be all things to everyone the smaller the range gets and they will end up having a poor selection of everything instead of a good range of store cupboard stuff (the sort of stuff that keeps for a few weeks or months)

It's like most of these bargain stores, as they expand the real bargains become fewer and they start to get samey. I love HB's but I wish they would stick to what we know them for.

Seen this bread wall last week, they had trays of dognuts for about £2 sumthin like asda. I dont like the way the bread is stored in the baskets in these places it can have flies landing on them or weird southport people touching them.

this machine also has a setting to wash itself after the baking is finished for the day

These women have never had it so good

Southport people are very weird, I'm one of them haha but others are just off the scale.

should be called in store cooked pre frozen bread

Barnstaple has had fridges for ages, but no freezer or bakery.....yet?? Agree with comments about the more these stores expand their range, the fewer bargains there seem to be.

Bakery! yer - Tongs or no tongs though

Doesn't matter. If it's loose, someone will have sneezed on it at some point.

TBF Home Bargains is still tops as imo they are one of the few stores which you can still go into and have a chance at finding a bargain.

Liverpool East lancs store has it. The one next to carcraft
