Great deal, awful service.
We are having to wait 7days for an emergency appointment. Needless to say we will be sacking them off.
Awful service. They let me down two weekends in a row when they said they would be out. Cancelled everything.

We have always had excellent service from them however if you pay £6 what sort of service do you think that they can provision. We had super 8 or something wass £120 for the first year renewal £330 ! Guess what
Had them last year with the same promotion. Had to call them out twice all for the sum of £6! Great deal where I see it. Heat to OP!

In this weather, most of them will do the same

I cannot fault them. I took out this promotion a couple of months back and glad I did, within a couple of weeks we had a blockage. I phoned them up at 7am and they came at 9am.
I took out the first year for £6 (full year) wasn't expecting much but have to say I was impressed. Must have claimed at least £150 in the first year. I decided to carry on. Even got an email to remind me last week with the cold weather just saying "remember we are here for you" good service.
It seems luck of the draw reading other comments but I can only give my experience. Called at 4pm, engineer arrived within an hour. Stayed for over two, replaced two parts and persevered to sort out our issue. Couldn't fault the service in any way.

Main exclusions are:
  • Loss of heating and/or hot water
  • Showers
  • Guttering
  • Soakaways
Looks a great deal, cannot go wrong at this price.
I’ve had this for the last 3 years (just cancel and restart to keep the 50p per month)

always has great service, had 2 taps fixed, toilet cistern replaced/fixed, leaking pipe under kitchen sink fixed, stop tap replaced, burst pipe to outbuildings fixed twice and all came out next day and had no issues.
Had as a frozen pipe burst in the snow this week and came out and fixed next day.

Got this but they were taking several days to come out as they sub-contract to others, so it was faster to pay someone to come out. Was annoyed to see the premium jump to £280 when I had to actually pay for my own plumber as they were too slow
Every year when I've taken a super cheap policy with homeserve we've had more paid out in work done than its cost us in the 50p a month policy . New kitchen tap put in, leaking toilet waste fixed , pipes and waste unblocked for sinks, bath, and washing machine, payments for replacement stopcock (longer story , but they paid 50% of our plumbers bill when I felt more confident having someone in that I knew to coordinate what became a problematic job ) . Have just cancelled last year's policy so will have to wait a few months to come back as a new customer again .
I had this deal a couple of years ago, same price £6.00, but never needed to make a claim so can’t say how good it was or not.
However I’ve now got a noisy water pipe so I’ve taken it out again to get that sorted! Thanks for posting OP.
Got to say, I've had issues with Homeserve recently.

Took out a boiler service/breakdown policy, nice and easy to to set up - good price, too.

The engineer performed the boiler check, all fine. Still got the copy of the paperwork to confirm this.

Then when I needed to make a claim, some time later, we were advised that our boiler service had failed, more work was required to make it right and they wouldn't be sending an engineer out for my emergency!

Had to call out an emergency engineer at my own cost and raised a complaint with Homeserve via Resolver.
Still waiting to hear back. Though not sure what they can say other than 'admin error' at their end.

But I want the £260 it cost me for an emergency engineer back!
Had this deal 2 years ago. My tap was was dripping probly rubber washers. Called out in the morning and the handyman came in the afternoon. I thought it was just open and replace job but it went on for more than 2 hours. He replaced the tap and the fixings which could have cost at least £50 including labour. Best 50p/month I've spent. Before the 12th month I've cancelled them to avoid paying the usual price.
Any good deal on boiler cover

Any good deal on boiler cover

Looking for the same
Worst company ever , Service is as that bad got my policy excess refunded as sat in all day
Cracking deal but if you ever need to call them it takes a long time to get through and they promise call backs that never come. My advise is use the app to make an appointment and hope you never have to call them regarding a job as it takes forever to get through or an answer.

Absolutely, but at least this won't allow them anywhere near your boiler. The damage they did to mine was unbelievable (and cost them several hundred pounds in compensation).

Ahh and ringing emergency plumbers during out of hours is bliss to deal with! One time my water pipe burst in the kitchen and as it was my first home I did not know that there was a stop tap to shut off the water. So called a few plumbers at 11pm only to be quoted £300-£500 call out charge. One texted back sarcastically saying good luck.

That was the longest 8 hours of my life as I stayed up emptying buckets of water down the kitchen sink only for my local handy man to come in the morning and fix the water pipe, I paid him £15.

Hope you get your money back mate.

My policy wasn’t with homeserve but think it was with Halifax emergency Home cover, absolute s***.

Argh, nightmare!
Ours wasn't quite that bad, but freezing cold night and 2 little ones to try and keep warm, so I needed it fixing.

One things for certain, I won't be keeping my cover with Homeserve - but I need them to investigate and let me know what happened (and get my money back ).
Called homeService and paid £95 access for boiler breakdown as promised to get an engineer today. Found out much later that it can not be today as agreed.
Absolute waste of a my day.
Don’t expect British Gas ‘HomeCare’ services.
Otherwise not bad to have an extra cover....but of no use in real Emergency

Please stay away from this company! They will do anything to avoid paying out if something goes wrong.

Had similar issue. They said did not cover for my kind of issue as wear snd tear. Approx 2 years ago. So thought no point in getting boiler brrakdown setvice.

Sounds familiar as they never seem to fix leaking taps and just prefer to replace them. Makes you wonder if that's because they get paid to use the replacement taps? I had to fix my leaking taps myself as they wouldn't order the replacement valves needed. Going to complain about that.

50p a month.....

50p a month.....

Why offer such a deal that a company is unable to deliver & fulfil?
Thanks OP, seems worth a chance for £6. Have set a reminder on my phone to cancel next year.

It says 4 claims per year, say you have a couple of dripping taps would that count as 2 claims if you contacted them about both at the same time or just one?
I am paying £1 per month (£12 for a year)... called them for an emergency pipe burst. The guy came same day and did the work which would have costed me £400+ from an independent professional.

Every penny worth it...!!!
Does anyone know if there is a service which includes changing a leaking shower?

Do thy allow to come back as a new customer every year? How long do you have to wait, how many months? Thanks
I don't seem to end up renewing every year as to be honest quite often I forget , however we have had it for quite a few years with gaps in between . I think last time I left it three months between returning as a new customer , did it by phone and he was quite happy with that , but he did say some people try and cancel and return the next month which they won't do .

Showers are not included. I'd recommend reading the terms, all details are in there.
