Beat me to it - just posted on original thread that might be an idea to submit a new deal as more people likely to see it when posted as a new deal rather than reading original post.

Ordered myself and code worked and order completed but still to receive a confirmation email.

Respectable machine for the money; bluray drive an added bonus - though I do wonder why you'd want blurray on anything less than a 1080p display. I suppose you can plug it into a TV...

Wow, this should get real hot real fast!

I was scared this was gonna happen. I now don't think I'm gonna be able to resist

It's a bonus for those of us that already have a BR collection, and few DVD's.

Exactly. People seem to forget that for movie buyers that have moved over to Blu-ray for the lounge that they also need a BD-R drive on the computer unless they want to rip to HDD. Hang on, you’d need a BD-R just to rip to HDD.

No interest in this myself but a great price with the code plus Quidco.

Too good not.
Ordering as I type.
Anyone know how quickly you get quidco cashback? First time I've used it.

web site could not confirm order at this time, seems a little strange but ordered anyway...will now have to sell my old dell laptop or may let my daughter have it, lets see if they honour the order first!!

You might not get anything off Quidco :

Members should only use voucher codes listed on Quidco. If you use voucher codes that are not listed on Quidco your cashback may not track or be declined.

just bought one~

Lovely, just bought one of these for my brother as he's just got his first job after a long period of unemployment. Unfortunately he's going to be travelling round Europe for 7 months so thought this would be a nice present so he can stay in touch.

PS I also got the could not confirm message. Fingers crossed.

Thanks very much

heat

Excellent price, and heat added as such.

Personally though, I'm holding out for a few more of those i3 deals with a larger hard drive and memory. I don't mind paying a bit more to somewhat 'future-proof' the expense.

Decent deal for the Blu-ray but hold back! These next couple of months should bring many laptop deals better than this -)

Before I saw this on here I was looking at this model on the Argos website as I can get it for £250 from our local Argos store. I am still deciding if to take the plunge or not but have reserved one as I dilly dallied with the Tesco deals & ended up with nowt.

Argos own Homebase which is why it is £299.99 on both sites. (Only just seen Argos thread after posting) Our local store has had a refurb so they are having a special offer of £20 in gift cards if you spend £100 or more plus I have enough gift cards bought from eBay for 85 to 90% of face value so that makes it £250 or less for me.

Thing is we don't have an HD TV or any Blu Rays so not sure if it is worth buying.

That was exactly my thinking too as I missed the i3 Tesco bargain due to not taking the plunge quick enough.

Nope I havent got confirmation yet.

Anybody advice on where to get another 2GB of speedy memory at a good price?

what about the sainsburys emachines one?

what about the sainsburys emachines one?

That looks good too. Not read the thread but on JS webpage it say 2GB in title but in the spec says 4GB install of 8GB max?

I was hoping for another deal on an i3 Tosh though before 28th Feb to get 24 free Odeon cinema tickets as they are worth over £100 of any ones money. 24 x £8 (average cinema price)

tempted but even more so by the emachines one for £30 more with the i3 processor... what you guys think?

Same. I was thinking about it for far too long, and it sold out when I decided to buy it. That offer was £223 I believe and outmatched anything that's been on here since.

As for the emachines laptop, as much as the spec looks decent enough - I have reservations about the brand as I've read far too many people complaining about them recently, which has put me off somewhat. They may very well be a decent brand but stories about things breaking and needing repairs just worry me even more so than anything else. I'm going to be working abroad this Summer and I'll need something reliable. I will not have time to start sending it off for repairs or the money to replace parts (even under warranty).

It's a bit of an anomoly this laptop.

The CPU is poor, the HDD is small, the GPU is also poor and it has the bare minimum of RAM to run Windows 7 efficiently, BUT....

It has a Blu-Ray drive, HDMI and eSATA.
Oh, and the price is amazing.

Heat added, but I won't be buying.

Good review here from Sept 2010.

Ordered & got the same message - heres hoping

you can get the free Saturday delivery option for free , so order now for del tomorrow LOL

Incredible bargain IF it goes through. Nectar points and quidco potentially takes it below £250! And should all be coming tomorrow. Perfect laptop to keep by the TV!

Hot from me

just ordered...

Man that's a good price, have 1 reserved at Argos but I'm going for this!

What a Kool deal dude? I want to upgrade it's ram. Can any body tell me , what type of ram exactly should I buy for this laptop ? Thanks

I have ordered it and got the confermation email too...

Very good price. Compatible RAM upgrades can be checked here:

crucial.com/uk/…RAM

This should (?) work for £13.99:

play.com/PC/…tml?

Not 100% on this so someone with more knowledge might be able to clarify.

We got one of these for my mother before Christmas my comments are as follows:

For the money the spec is good, but you will WANT to add 2 more gigs of ram, I had some for £15 from play which works beautifully.

Out of the box, there isnt too much "bloat-ware" on it, so reinstalling Win 7 immediately isnt a necessity - however Im sure that there could be slight perf increases from doing this.

The most important thing I can say, is that to get the most from the laptop, especialy when it comes to using it for things like BBC iPlayer HD, either streaming or desktop, and for HD quality MKV and other file formats playback, you need to ensure your running the latest drivers for the ATI GPU, the latest version of Flash (10.2 - allows GPU decoding for iPlayer : get.adobe.com/fla…er/ - NOTE, if you hae google chrome, you need to install flash 10.2 via internet explorer, ad Chrome will the pick it up separately, as currently the default level for Chrome is 10.1), and you will want Media Player Classic - Home Theatre (http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/download-media-player-classic-hc.html), which allows the GPU to decode the HD video/ other HD content - not the CPU with software - (which cant cope).

Once you address these items it does everything an HD capable laptop should - it als plays Blu-ray perfectly (this works out of the box as blu-ra software has always allowed GPU decoding as far as I know).

Enjoy

Hot. Bought!!

Got the nectar points, but didn't go through quidco. Doh!!

Just a thought, if CPU speed is an issue with Windows 7, you could fire on a copy of Tiny7. That runs fine on my 6 year old Celery powered laptop with 512MB RAM!

At these screen sizes 1080P is a little pointless.

I'd had one reserved at Argos and let is slide yesterday, but with the extra money off here plus Quidco and Nectar points I've had to take the plunge.

I'll be upgrading the RAM to 4GB straight away and the most intensive thing it will be used for is Football Manager 2011 and a bit of Microsoft Office.

Don't need a third Laptop...... Must not be tempted... such a good deal..... agggghhhhh!!!
