Sorry to hear people are losing their jobs a couple of weeks before Christmas.

Hope you enjoy your cheap mop buckets.

Exactly my thoughts. I absolutely hate these 'closing down sales'. …Exactly my thoughts. I absolutely hate these 'closing down sales'. Something quite sick about them, and anyone with any sense of decency would avoid posting. Just go shop there, and keep it to yourself, as I am sure the local vultures will soon be hovering around and will soon empty the shelves. Just my tuppence worth, maybe some of us of the older generation still have some sense of morality. Sorry OP, sometimes these things need to be said.

You are to be congratulated on your high principles but, if you think about it, they are misplaced. Not shopping there won't save this store but it will make the parent company a little weaker so putting jobs elsewhere in the business at risk too.

Closing. The building will be knocked down and a Sainsbury's supermarket built in its place.

Wow and whatever, I am so glad I do not live in your world. If you read my post you might have just understood. Yes the store is closing down. I acknowledge that fact, but I wont be party to it closing any earlier due to my greediness to buy stuff I do not want or need.

Whether we shop there or not, the people are losing their jobs so why not grab a bargain and then share the discounts

It is shutting sat 9th Dec & staff are being paid till that date plus their redundancy pay so purchasing items makes no difference.

Apparently you have failed to understand my point and simply rejected my (sincere) congratulations on your high principles. I'm just pointing out that there is a bigger picture! This is not BHS!

Fill your boots. Not for me as I am not a parasite. Some of you guys don't get it, and it is too late on a Saturday evening for me to educate you, so I will just leave it.

Or the stock could be moved to other branches and sold for it's usual price, therefore strengthening (see what I did there? ) the parent company's position.

Well, most of the deals here are on glitches/store closing down/Amazon. So if anyone wishes to take moral high ground then please do not bother looking around here. Shop your independant local store. Quoted from Darwin, the fittest survives. This is the power of a free market. The invisible hands. Oh you can also blame Brexit too.(I am not a Brexiter)

I am also very sorry to hear that people lose their jobs right before Christmas, however they also have full pay and compensation. Focus on the point here, there are deals to be had in the closing down store. Thats good for both local business and the economies, people shops at homebase are likely to look around in the same retail park, increasing the chances of contributing to the southport economies.

Also good for environment too, as they may not need to shifting the stocks somewhere else and increase the carbon footprint.

Enough for my rants on a freezing Saturday night.

I don't think you'd fit through the front doors on that mighty high horse anyway. Building's being knocked down, it's beyond any of our control what happens to these people. Whether you buy the cheap shit or not wont save their jobs. Can't see what's wrong with making a few quid from a huge company.

Yea naturally sad news at people losing their jobs at a store closing, as for the reductions in stock only to be expected so can’t blame those that benefit financially and AVOID becoming too emotionally biased at the prospect.

Heat added.

How people not buying at 75% off gonna bring back the jobs at this store? I feel sorry for the people, it's really bad time. But the discount and job loss has nothing to do with each other.

You are completely correct, it isn't going to bring the jobs back, but personally I think it's poor taste to get excited about getting a few quid off some tat when people's lives are probably going to be turned upside down.

Op, did u see any Keter sheds? I will make the journey if I could find a garden shed especially Keter.

May I also suggest that you don't buy anything cheap made in the far east - by people who are treated far worse when they are IN work. I don't applaud it but I do try to maintain a balance about this rough old world.

Sorry didn't see any sheds left at all.

For the one who is not very excited for "a few quids", I have a house renovation project on and this trip has saved me £450.

Is there any big tool boxes/tool chests left does anybody know? It's a two hour round trip for me so don't want to waste my time. Thought it might be a bit rude phoning up.

I have been in a few times and have spoken to the staff. The lady at the desk said that most of the staff have been relocated to the closest Homebase branch, the rest are going to be working in B&Q across the road.
