Great deal. Hot

Folk slate these a lot bit here is my story. I got home 8 cover for £9.50 a month and the £100 quidco paid out after 5 months. My boiler broke last week and the excess was £50. The chap came out next day and as the part took 3 days to source they sent me a £30 cheque and repaired the boiler perfectly. I WAS paying British Gas £20 a month.

Tcb too thanks been looking for cover doesn't include the service though

Had to take these rogues to the ombudsman for basically letting us fester in our own sewage for three days. Useless company. Approach with caution.

Thanks Snatch that's good to hear. I was looking at the small print to make sure there was a 24/7 call out service but can't find any assurances for that. After the heating packing up on Christmas morning in that cold snap a few years ago that's a prime concern of mine! British Gas engineer arrived within a few hours thank god.

Yep, £50 excess, only for houses heated with gas not electricity and if any boilers are beyond reasonable repair and over 7 years old then there's £200 to pay (nothing unusual there)

kracker - there's a free boiler service in Year 1.

If I wasn't in the middle of my overpriced British Gas insurance I'd go for this! Thanks liam. Heat added

Just a quick question - if the boiler is over 7 years old then theres a 200 pound excess to pay? Any clarification is appreciated.

Be careful about the automatic renewals on these. You will get a reminder letter before the year is up, but the price will inevitably jump!

AVOID, COWBOY COMPANY

Had a complete nightmare with this company, after having my boiler service by groupon two months earlier and been given a clean bill of health. I took on there full service package as my lights were flickering -stopped after I changed the bulb. On their first boiler service my boiler started making whirring noises from the top of the boiler. They said my boiler was going out the door and I need to pay £800 to repair the water pump. I was shocked as my boiler was working fine until the nPower home serve Cowboys came to the house. I told them to leave! A local boiler man came and said the water pump had at least 10 years of life left but the air pump was disconnected. I paid for the call out charge to get the supposed service rectified, nPower refused to cough up. When I looked online, I found out this was a scam which Homeserve does quite a lot to create business and rob you blind. Such an awful company

Anyone else comment on whether they offer a good service?

And several month later they tried to charge me for the fake boiler service saying they had done work, I looked at taking them to court but it was too long-winded

We gave up with the BG crazy prices and went to Npower. Good price and Quidco. At the first service the engineer had to get the system going as it hadn't been on for ages. I recommend them so far.

I used Homeserve twice in the past. I'll never touch them again. I hate how much I pay BG, but at least they do the work when needed, and don't become the problem.

My re-newel came through last week from Vokera £22 a month so i'll be having a good look at this today (_;)

Just replaced our 22 year old Ideal gas boiler. Think it got serviced twice in all that time. Had a look at the bits and was surprised at just how clean the burner was. Unless you need your boiler serviced to maintain your warranty, I'd question the need for a yearly service. It a bit like those six monthly reminders from your dentist to go in for a check-up. It's pretty obvious that they are designed to benefit him more than you.

Product Overview

Please Note: The annual boiler service included with this policy is free in the first year only, upon renewal the annual boiler service is chargeable and will be included as standard in the total cost of the policy. Please refer to 'what happens after the first year' under important information. Boiler services will be undertaken Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, between April and September 2015.

terms and conditions

There is no limit to the number of claims, and up to £4,000 per claim, except for Gas Central Heating, where the claim value limit is up to the point the boiler is beyond economical repair (BER). If the boiler is BER and the boiler is under 7 years of age, we will replace it, but if it is over 7 years of age then a £200 payment will be made towards its replacement

Was going to go for this until I read AAB,s telegraph bit.
Any recommendations for other service package.

stick with british gas. yes its expensive but ive heard far less horror stories.

HomeServe used to be a bit of a nightmare but they are pretty good now. This is a great offer heat added!

This says it's for gas boilers. Anyone know if it includes electric boilers too?

Hi just wanted to say I was with npower 2 years ago and homeserve last year. They are not the same company npower boiler cover is called hometeam. Npower stung me for a lot of money too when they did my preliminary inspection to see if I was allowed the cover. Homeserve did a repair last month for me and they were very fast and the engineer was great, they even came back the next day when I thought the problem had come back. Will be joining again as a new customer today (renewal prices are a joke!)

According to Companies House, Home team is a seperate company, HOME TEAM (DOMESTIC SERVICES) LIMITED, they do sub-contract work for a lot of companies.

Homeserve is a subsidery comany of Npower. When it comes down to it they say they are unrelated but going through OFGEM they are related and the same company, even when you go through the small claims court

?do you work for them

No but been with them both and they had different vans and logos. Npower a lot stricter when taking the cover out insisting on a pre inspection which cost me a small fortune btw. Homeserve took me on without any questions at all.

Hometeam and Homeserve are different companies. Hometeam is better

Homeserve has the same owners through complex tax arrangements and as I understand have similar owners. Npower also have an additional team contracted direct. The names and companies are meant to be confusing to reduce accountability
