I've heard they are not a very good company to deal with?

Dreadful. They have very few actual vans and don't arrive quickly at all.I you want cover look at esure or sheila wheels home insurance. They offer a years free emergency plumbling, electrical, drain and central heating cover

Anybody got experience with Homeserve?

I paid them £9 a month for 10 years for boiler cover and they refused to fix it saying it wasn't economically viable even though they were still taking the direct debit,

I have cover through my Sheila's Wheels home insurance and had to use them a couple of times in the past 3 years. One visit they did the job straight away but the other time they never arrived and when they did turn up after a new appointment they needed parts and came back the next day and did the job ok so I think they are not that bad - well worth £1 a month to those who have no cover

Ive been with them for about 8/9 years.
They are ok.
Boiler broke last year they sent out a company to fix it.
They found fault came back 2 days later with part and fixed it.
But took a short cut fitting it and broke a release valve came back next day and fixed it while braking a part on the pcb main board.Back next day to fix that.
Not great service but replaced most of my boiler for nothing and when i complained got this years cover for free.
Over all would recomend.

If you do fancy a punt on this go for the zero excess offer, most things will be repairable with a 10p washer.... which usually means a 100 quid bill

I have had homeserve for last 2 years £96 a year with no excess I had them out twice in first year.

I looked at drain cover in comparison to bgas, aa.rac and many more and cover and limits are better
In addition ie dripping taps are covered unlike over policies. Also central heating pipes are covered for leaks. As I have a brand new system with 5 year warranty on boiler

I have.. I used them last year when I had a collapsed drain. (Originally thought it was a blocked toilet) Had a plumber out within few hours. He said it was a problem with sewer pipe and called out his colleague with a camera. 2 vans arrived (4 people) and dug up my garden and repaired pipe. He even replaced an old metal soil downpipe I had to a new plastic one ( I bought the pipe) Put the garden back exactly as it was.

Anybody got experience with Homeserve?

I have but indirectly. I am a plumber and I got called to a job after homeserve have been there. Basically the customer had a 40mm pipe blocked and homeserve came to them first. They said they couldnt repair it because the pipework was too old! so they left their customer with blocked pipes. I turned up cut out the section of pipe and replace. It was a real simple job for anyone with any basic plumbing skill let alone a company how claim to undertake complex repairs. So on that I would recommend but of course that is just me experience.

Seems good.

The website says these policies are NOT for flats. Any comments?

I believe that any drainage from the wall of your house is to be covered by the supplying water company from this year, I might be wrong but anything that is outside your house but still on your property is down to them, although it's pretty cheap, they are shut, and don't stop pestering you for their other services like electricity cover and the like.

Seems like a mixed bag to me. £2 month might be worth it but Sheilas Wheels sounds like a better servuce

I was let down by them. Had a water leak on a shower.water running down the wall, told me that the shower was not covered. Very rude staff but they really went the extra mile to make sure they did not have to come out.. Unfortunately you only find out how good your insurance is when you want to claim.

Yes, we have had experience of Homeserve. I really don't know if their staff are qualified or they employ anybody off the street. We had a problem with our plumbing and as we had insurance they directed us to Homeserve. We had three 'plumbers' from Homeserve come and visit us -- not one diagnosed the problem correctly. The first one did not have the time to deal with the problem ! Why did they send him ? The second guy said he did not know what the problem was. The third 'plumber' said I needed a new hot water cylinder. They also told the insurance company that I needed a new hot water cylinder, which, incidentally, was not covered by their policy ! It transpired that the hot water cylinder was not the problem ! It was a blocked pipe. I ended up resolving the problem myself! I can tell you that I have more knowledge about plumbing and heating than those so-called plumbers from Homeserve and my profession has nothing to do with plumbing.

The independent plumbers that I have spoken to tend to refer to Homeserve as cowboys because they have attended jobs where Homeserve have screwed up.

I am still surprised they are still in business. From what I have experienced and from what other plumbers tell me: I will be avoiding them at any cost !!!!

Npower with £75 cashback through Topcashback.

My boiler washing Machine oven and fridge is insured with them and haven't had any problems they always fix the problem within 24 hours

Tried homserve before, not impressed to be honest. I am now with corgihomeplan.co.uk - a much better service and they do have thousands of vans which means they do actually come out to service every year and fix boilers where necessary, They were out to me in an hour just before christmas, got the job done quick with no fuss.

You get what you pay for when it comes to bolier cover and central heating insurance. Check the small print carefully, a lot of them exclude basic stuff, corgi homeplan seem to offer better cover to me comapred to this lot.

I have Homeserve boiler cover via Vaillant and they have been OK and I called them out a few times in the past 5 years after British Gas condemned my boiler.

It seems that if you go direct to Homeserve you get treated like a second rate customer.

They are rubbish I usually get called out to their customers when they either don't turn up or give their customers a 48hr time slot, Happy days for me though

Service is shocking. Takes 5 days to give appointment. Engineer had to come 4 times to repair one fault. DONT USE.

Had cover with British Gas and the money I spent with them over 20 years... I could have had 3 boilers
You don't really need this....most experts agree...your better of saving the money
Changed my Boiler and the great lads who fitted it, now service it and the wife every year

Didn't get good service from them. Had AA home emergency response last year and on the whole were very good.

How is this hot??? Homeserve are a disgraceful company. They were used for my parents insurance claim and took months to complete the job which was not even done properly in the end. Avoid at all costs!
