One of the best US drama series ever....I'd rather watch this than most of the current releases...

Season 1, that was on offer previously is still only £11.99

Fantastic price. Voted hot.

Lol, every month I post a comp in the odd are forum where I explain this.

Series 1 was 9 episodes. Then it got picked up for a new series, but the network got cold feet and ordered 4 episodes. 4 episodes is a tie for the shortest ordered season in US TV history for an ongoing series (tied with Sienfeld).

So when it got the DVD treatment in the US (ages ago) set one was series 1 & 2. Then each series individually.

However when it was released over here the first set was called Series 1 even though it contained 13 episodes. And the misnumbering has continued ever since. However don't let this put you off ordering one of the all time great cop shows (and heres hoping they release the movie that finished the series off eventually too).

The series is based on a book by David Simon, who has his own series now 'The Wire' which is also must see TV.

Edit: Sorry forgot to say, this show is also the introduction of Detective Munch. Munch holds the record for the largest number of different series the same character appears in, 8 different shows:

Homicide
The Beat
X-Files
Law & order
Law & Order: Trial by Jury
Arrested Development
Sesame Street (!) - OK in Muppet form!
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
