Can pick up PS2 keyboards well cheap at local supermarkets etc these days, and as PS/2 keyboards are slowly on the way out expect alot of discounted ones coming up.

Anyone got a free delivery code

PS2 keyboards still have their uses. When installing an OS it sometimes requires a PS2 keyboard as USB often is not recognised by the installer which only loads basic drivers.

pay a honest price. LOL!

Woah, cutting!..

Most modern computers don't have PS/2 Ports, but you could get a PS/2 to USB adapter like ]this for around £2.... cost is adding up though!

Is the microphone detachable by any chance and usable with another keyboard?

With the mic/speakers etc. it's probably worth at least £5.

Really? Done hundreds of builds and not come across that problem perhaps Linux issue?

Bear in mind that if you ask for a refund if it goes faulty you would only get 1p.

Seems like a good deal though.

****** ps/2 is still the industry standard for keyboards and i do not think i have seen a desktop pc motherboard without a ps/2 port

The only chance I've got of ordering this is if I need something else from their site. Can't see it happening, lol.

Hot deal though.

lol jokers, this is ps2 so tecnically a dinosaur, once you pay pnp its a fiver minnum, you can get these at computer fairs for a couple of quid, for a fiver id want a keyboard mouse and speakers

ive got a dell opliplex gx620 which is a pentium 4, probably about 3 or 4 years old now, no ps2 ports whatsoever, 8usb ports instead tho

got an old dell 5000 here myself with no ps/2 socket either but that is dell they are a law unto themselves, all the mainstream motherboard manufactures still include at least the keyboard ps/2 port and if you google "industry standard keyboard socket" sure as shooting it will not be usb at the top of the list

some micro-ATX motherboards dont have PS2 connector, usualy corporation pcs, like some of Dells.

a lot a talk for a 5£ keyboard, i picked mine off the sidewalk a year ago and I have a state of the art gaming PC (which I upgrade every now end then)

not sure what is hot about this, bigoffers are terrible and minimum £5 for an unknown ps2 keyboard you must be joking!

hotukdeals.com/mer…ews

These were floating around distribution 2-3 weeks ago at around £1.40 + vat. Providing they have a deal with Royal Mail or a courier they'll still be making money @ £5 delivered I expect!

Last time I tried to buy something cheap here they said there was a minimum spend of a tenner. That still the case?

Got a dell Vosro 4 weeks old never use ps2 but just had a look and got one so in a way you free up a usb port
even tho i go 10 on this Dell but for £5 its only the price of fish 'n' chips and you get the pleasure of it coming thro
the post and opening up a parcel...love it

The keyboard looks really sexy with many featues like microphone, Multimedia keys and special Skype buttons but only thing to worry about is PS2. If it was USB i would have ordered atleast 2. Thanks for posting.

No, not a Linux issue. USB keyboards do not require drivers since the BIOS recognises them outside of an OS (just like USB hard drives and optical drives are recognised and can be used to install an OS). That's why they can be used to access the BIOS. Even with Legacy USB devices disabled in the BIOS, most USB keyboards will still operate correctly before the OS loads. Of course, the OS may install its own wraparound drivers for extra functions like the Windows key or media keys. However, if a BIOS has not been set to use Legacy USB devices and it is one of the few that still cannot recognise USB keyboards with the Legacy USB devices setting turned off, it will require a PS/2 keyboard to enable the user to turn on Legacy USB but this is rare. Almost all current BIOSes will recognise USB keyboards even with the Legacy USB setting disabled in the BIOS, since all it is is a remap of addressing space for legacy OS such as DOS mode, older Windows, etc.

The reason why PS/2 is no longer the ubiquitous connector we once saw on nearly every computer is that separate PS/2 ports are usually required for keyboard and mouse whereas it is much easier to allow for one USB connector to communicate with both a keyboard and mouse (sure, it can be achieved with a PS/2 port, but it is more difficult to implement). Also, USB keyboards and mice are hot pluggable.

My PC is less than 12 months old and has PS/2 ports? Someone must have snapped yours off or something theres a Optiplex GX620 on my test bench that has PS/2 ports?!

Most PS/2 keyboards come with a PS/2 to USB plug anyway, so if you like it so much I'd buy them.

I work in IT and all of the new PC's we buy do NOT come with ps/2 ports, they are gradually being phased out. Alot of the 'New' PC's use boards that have been out for a while.

Sorry to all the PS/2 lovers

ordered yesterday came this morniing by city link so thats not bad for a start
no usb adaper included ,
if you want loads of buttons this is the boy for you its like the starship enterprise a few more lcd lights and you would be taking off (when i find the start button) can't go wrong for a blue note.
To be fair i use a microsoft reclusa keyboard its not in that league but championship level yeah

its got all the skype buttons you need but looks like would be the same inputs as your speakers
