I have this it is bugger when you change your WiFi or if you move it and doesn't sync back in. But saying that it works great with the app and I can put heating on while I'm out so I have a toasty home after it rains.
It does have a programmable calender with multiple options but never actually used it as I get an alert on my phone if house goes below a certain temp and it unlike the hive system doesn't give my gas usage out.
Does this work with combi boiler?

Can this be installed yourself or do you need an engineer to plug it into the boiler?

Depends if you have a room sealed cover on the boiler and if you need to open this cover to access the connections.

Does this work with combi boiler?


This version is really designed for systems with a hot water tank, as the relay box has separate relays for the heating and hot water circuits.
This is a great price for the version that controls both the heating and hot water. I have the wall mounted heating only version and it works great.
i have one of these working on my combi boiler system ,, easy to install if you follow the instructions which are clear and precise.

I'm with British Gas for my Gas and I was on phone I explained to the lady I have smart heating as I was disputing a bill.

She proceeded to tell me well you don't have a hive smart heating system as we get live feed data from the hive system and we could check that data with the data from the smart meter.

So in answer to that question British Gas.
I have the wired version of this. I principally wanted the wired version so I wouldn’t have to worry about batteries or charging it. A plumber installed it, the water is controlled separately, I have a conventional hot water tank system. It works irrespective of whether there is a Wi-fi connection, which I know some don’t. I love it, although recently I have found the app doesn’t always reliably communicate with the unit when out of the house, which is frustrating. It integrates with Alexa and Google (yeah I have both) ...

An alternative to Nest, Hive etc and cheaper...

Ps I have just tested It using 4g rather than Wi-fi it updated the temp in 2 seconds so maybe it was a blip....

Well I am not with British Gas so they can't tell how much gas I am using and I am not sure what good it would do them if they could anyway. I don't even believe that BG could determine your usage anyway if you didn't have a Smart meter as it would depend on the boiler you had and how well it was set up/serviced. Sounds like they are telling porkies

Edit: The only thing they could tally is how often you boiler was on from the Hive and see if that roughly tallies with the gas usage from your Smart meter. That's all they can tell from the Hive. You give cannot tell how much much gas is used from other appliances such as gas fires and gas hobs

I've changed WiFi twice since we got ours (free with our boiler) and both times it's taken literally a couple of minutes to change it on the unit.

I've never had any issues with the app control away from home either, it's been flawless for me.

So you are saying you prefer a system that British Gas can't access data from when you are trying to claim that your meter readings are wrong when the only thing that may back up your claim that you haven't used the gas they say would be the Hive system? Of course the Hive records usage of gas... It has to to do comparisons and charts of usage. All decent systems will.

I have a Hive system in one house and a Honeywell (older model) in the other. The Hive is more reliable and is easier to use based on more than 3 years usage
