Best price I've seen so far
Got this last year for my daughter she loves it!! Should I purchase for my other daughter or choose another @Mrswitch3 she is a roblox mad girl lol deciding between this or chrome book or laptop what do you advise. Must be hotspot compatible as we can’t get broadband at home. 😘
Hey @MrSwitch

Sorry to hijack the thread

I'm looking for a new android phone around £160 but can go as far as £200 if needed. This is to replace a phone for my mum which is a P8 Lite (so getting on a bit) and i'm ideally looking for something slightly bigger as well.

I asked her for her requirements and it was simply a good camera, a slightly larger screen and a bit faster. What i would say is she won't be viewing the pictures outside of the phone so i guess the camera needs a fairly good screen to go with it.

She's obviously used to Android and she does tend to keep her phone for 2/3 years so i'm hoping something which is slightly future proof.

I did look at the Xiaomi A3 but the screen seems to let it down quite considerably and i don't want her to feel like she's taken a step back. I did look at the Umidigi Power 3 but she thought it would be too big.

Any ideas or recommendations appreciated ?

I'd only suggest the note 8t from three for £169, all the phone you'll need imo
Using this phone right now and it's all I can see me needing for some time. Seemed a little lightweight /fragile at first but gets chucked in pocket or rucksack for cycling, been to the beach loads over the summer and camping and not missed a beat.

Only negative, if I'm being picky, is that it currently won't get Android 10.
This or the Huawei P smart+ 2019?
I notice the + model has much better cameras.....
Apologies, silly question, but is this sim free/unlocked? Looking a first phone for my daughter for christmas, and this seems good. Though unsure whether to go this or Mi A3. Any advice much appreciated.

It is, I'd go for one of the Xiaomi tbh, 8t or A3, or even 8 or 9 lite

Thanks, myself and husband both have xiaomis so are converts. She was just looking something a little smaller than ours if possible, I've the A2, and she likes it, so the A3 might be a good choice, but will look at the others too.

The + is hovering lately around the £160 to £165 at the right time of day, so pretty close just now.
Agreed though, when the + is back up at £179 or £199, this deal is a no brainer.

Unfortunately that's common with huawei / honor handsets and the prime reason I stopped buying them after having p9/p10 lite versions , by all accounts there is an app that you can download to get the latest versions but never bothered myself , I still have my p10 lite as a backup phone still going strong but a bit slow now on miui 8 !! But build quality and longevity are superb in my limited experience
This or the Honor 20 lite. Which is a little bit more expensive but comes with a better camera... Have an honor 6x currently.

I would recommend a Samsung galaxy m30s on Amazon. Fast delivery and it has a best in class oled display - it also has a fast processor for a budget phone which will keep it getting updates for 2yrs! 😄
i've been using this phone for 6 months, and the only way I can fault it is the stupid Huawei task killer stuff. The stupidest thing is, if they could just make it adjustable or customisable, it would be a really good feature.

"by all accounts there is an app that you can download to get the latest versions".

Out of interest, what's the name of that App please?. :-)

A family member already has a P20 Lite, and I believe that App would (in the future course of time that is), prove most helpful indeed.

Get Samsung Galaxy M30s. Best screen and battery in the price range with quite good processor.
Redmi Note 8T can be had from tobydeals for like £135 this is much better deal

As far as I know, Huawei firmware finder stopped working some time ago due to Huawei changing the way their update files could be accessed.

Yeah that makes sense , looking at the feedback on play store , I never bothered trying to update my p10 lite it's just a spare phone now , showing its age but does the basics , have a galaxy S4 mini kicking around somewhere too keep them as they're both unlocked to all networks

£169 + £10 Top Up mate

Sweeeeeeet!!, thanx mate I recall paying MORE than that for my Lenovo P2 phone about 2.5 Year's back on Pay & Go too, via Network Three at the time ...

Though (I can't lie), the camera on it at the time, was an absolute blinder, lol (so I can't complain). :-)

This Xiaomi 8T currently on Network Three now however, has double the internal capacity of what my P2 was rocking at the time (the RAM though, was the exact same of my former P2 though).

Note to self: get over your P2, and move on, huh? lol.

On a slightly different note (incase anyone else is interested too mind?).

I'd like to add this You Tube link as well:

Given, the above link is the Note 8 Pro, as opposed to Note 8T though, but still?. :-)
