Very nice phone for the price, got one for my daughter and actually prefer it to my Honor 10 in many ways, smaller notch, edge screen and much better finger print scanner, haven't noticed any difference in speed between the two either.

This or the xiaomi mi 8 lite??? Can't decide
Price is showing as £199
This or the 8x? I currently have the 8x but broke the screen and been quoted over £100 from Huawei for a fix its only 6months old so rather upgrade for that price.
It's £149 from O2

The one from O2 is network locked and you have to buy a minimum £10 top up. The Carphone Warehouse one is sim free and unlocked to any network.

You don't have to buy a topup if you're buying through the website or already on O2 paygo. All O2 phones have been unlocked for the last few months

Oh ok, I wasn't aware that O2 phones are now unlocked, the ones I have bought previously have all been locked. You can't buy this phone through the website because it is not in stock.
If you are on pay as you go, check if you can upgrade. On 02 with carphone warehouse, the price is £139

This is one of several very similar models Huawei has at this price point, with the same processor , similar design and build quality, seemingly random permutations of dual rear camera and varying sizes of 1080p notched display. In this case you're getting a smaller display (6.2” vs 6.5"), smaller battery and slower networking (only the Chinese version has ac WiFi, the global model has to settle for abgn). It's a slight downgrade, but similar enough in most regards that you'll not feel too hard done by.

For an upgrade, stretch to £199 and get the Honor Play. It's a very similar phone once again in terms of design and overall package, but you get the previous generation flagship Kirin 970 processor, faster charging and USB C connectivity as key improvements.

Thank you I will look for an offer on the play.

Bear in mind this is an evolving news story; I think the restrictions on consumer side trade are being lifted, considering how badly it would hurt US chip companies, not to mention software makers and ultimately American workers and Trump

While this is a evolving news story it would not be good to buy a device and low and behold you won't be able to access the playstore in which only Google can make the decision yes trade of the phones will resume in America however with the likes of ee looking to ban Huawei devices on its network buy with caution

Hi, couldn't people just install a third party store like Aurora/Fdroid?

In terms of android you can side load apps onto the phone but for a new phone who wanna do that. Now maybe it won't happen to Huawei

I agree caution is advised, all tech companies come and go for various reasons
A bad phone for one reason: it has a shockingly bad RAM management thanks to EMUI. I would spend your money on something else like Samsung or Moto, unless you are happy that your browser will reload the page when yoi switch to another app, get you will have about 1gb free RAM.

That was one of the things that annoyed me about my honor view 20, I'd have a Web page open, come back 5 mins later, and it would refresh losing what I was doing....

Also apps, they'd refresh in the background if you left the app, annoying when trying to post a deal on hukd, coming back to find all your work gone.

£40 more and you can get the Xiaomi mi 8 from John Lewis which comes with an OLED screen, SD845 and better cameras

you can tone down the aggressive ram management on an app by app basis in the settings

You can't I'm afraid. Tried the options that you mentioned to no avail, so do other people from xda forum. Even deleting or disabling Emui Power Geanie, which is a background core app which only helps so much. And trust me, disabling core apps for normal users is a tedious task that requires accessing Adb debugging through USB on Cmd commands, and it still works half the time
Would rather purchase a Redmi note 7 from ebuyer for just £15 more. ebuyer.com/882976-xiaomi-redmi-note-7-64gb-smartphone-black-mzb7556en

Superior SOC
Superior Cameras
Superior battery life, 3400 Vs 4000mah
Back isn't made of plastic , actual glass
Has USB-C while this phone has a out of date microUSB
MIUI is better than EMUI in my opinion (typed from my Honor view 10)

Got the same phone few months ago. Good value. But always worry about the security and durability as it is made by Huawei. May not support Android in near future.

Yes it will support Android. Huawei won't move current phones to their new OS. Worst case you stop recieving updates and from the looks of things the US is starting to lift the ban
now is not the time to buy a device of this brand.
Viewing this deal on one right now. It's a nice phone, but even with the insane memory management I still seem to get regular low RAM messages when hardly anything is running. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

Phones that are already certified for access to the Play Store (such as this one) will retain access. It's only new phones that might possibly be restricted, but more than likely Trump will quietly back down before any 'ban' bites.

[Image] The tips listed worked for me

Exactly the topic I mentioned. If reading further, you will find that this has helped to very few people and others still had the problem persisting after applying these methods, including me. Following simple steps: close all open apps>open chrome> open any webpage> then go to camera app> take a couple of pictures> return to chrome and watch it gloriously reloading the web page (or should I say loading the whole chrome app from storage to RAM). If ot didn't do that the first time, go back to camera app and do it again. If your phone doesn't reload chrome or any other browser app for that matter after couple of tries, than I'm happy for you, because mine does so and I still have approximately 1gb of free ram.

It did work for me so that seems weird. I hope it gets sorted for you. Wonder if it's worth reaching out to Honor on Twitter?
