Currently the cheapest way to get this phone.

This is the 3gb version.
My partner has this exact handset from amazon.com
And absolutely loves it, I have the view 10 and they are very very comparable

Edge-to-edge all-screen design. With a high screen-to-body ratio and 2160 x 1080 FHD+ resolution, the Honor Full View display on the Honor 7X brings you an astonishing, immersive visual experience.
Take the lead in games. The Honor 7x’s 18: 9 screen provides more real estate than a traditional 16: 9 screen, giving you a wider view than other gamers.
Never fall behind in catching up with friends while watching videos. The one-key screen split function offers an even faster multi-management experience.
The Classic metal design of the Honor 7X is a delight to hold, with its perfectly rounded edge. The 2.5D glass face flows seamlessly into the aluminum chassis.
The dual-lens 16MP + 2MP rear Camera captures life’s magical moments in the highest definition, empowering your inner photographer.

Not touchy in the slightest,
but just like people to back up their comments.

That is all, but no appreciate the comment nonetheless
Mrswitch (and/or anyone else), as you seem to know your mobile phones, would you recommend this over the Huawei P Smart? And as random as this seems, is the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) better than either? (Sorry I didn't know where else to ask!)

Or if you or anyone else can recommend any alternatives, I'm looking to spend up to £250 (ideally £200 but could even be £300 if it's a great deal). Thanks very much!
A5 is more comparable to this US version.
The p smart is virtually the exact same phone as the UK version 7x so you are better off getting the p smart at the current £179.

There are a million phones you can get with your budget these days, most of them are poor poor handsets, but i'd stick to huawei/honor and you can't go wrong imo.

Go for an older flagship for £250-£300 and you'll get better specs and power than you would from most mid range phones these days.

G6 from amazon used very good for £250.
Mi mix 2 for £300ish on aliexpress is always a winner.
Many options, too many to list

Going to US next week. Was going to pick up a P Smart as my current phone is on its last legs. 140 for this would be pretty decent.

Can I come?
Doubt you could tolerate my kids for 2 weeks. Struggling to think how I will cope. Newer version of android on the p smart. Think I would give this a miss. Decent enough price though so hot from me.

Had similar budget and got myself htc u11 brand new from ebay for £270. No warranty as it was an insurance replacement but that's a flagship phone for a bargain price. You can get them around that price easily on eBay.

Your argument is that it looks like an iPhone 7 plus?

I've never had an apple product, and won't ever have one, but thanks for the advice (to stay clear of the SE)

A5 2017 currently about £225 either on eBay with full 2yr Samsung warranty or same price with the code posted here on hukd at Very if you can bear them. All the Honor phones seem pretty good with one fatal flaw (for me anyway) or another, and not very good reputation for updates. I'd probably go for the A5 as a result, although I'm no fan of Samsung.

Just be aware that if you buy from the USA, you need to check what bands it has, (and what bands you will need to run here.)

Also Huawei/Honor phones in the USA only support 2.4Ghz wifi. The warranty will also be a US warranty.

Knowing all this, I'd pay the touch more for the EU version. For a tablet, the US version can be a nice bargain.

Thanks again all you lovely wonderful people!!

For those interested in how it performs against other phones with regards to performance. For reference the Mate 10 has the same chip as the Honor View 10 for those who are torn between the two.

I would probably go for the Honor 9 Lite over the P Smart. It's a tenner cheaper and by all acounts it's the better phone. I actually ended buying the 9 Lite a couple of days ago and couldn't be happier with it. The camera is decidedly mid-range but other than that it's a great phone for the money.

Many thanks for this. The Honor 9 Lite also has the advantage (for me) of being slightly smaller than the P Smart (though maybe the difference in size is negligible?). It's also available at John Lewis (who've generally given me good service), though I just saw it's currently out of stock there.
I may go to a shop to look at some phones in person.
Thanks again for your kind advice
Nice phone the wife's Nokia 5 was playing up, took it back to argos and they let me pay the difference for the honor 7x would definitely recommend it.
Thought they embargoed huawei no?
This or the redmi note 5?
