Really good phone and even better value at this price. The main downsides is no NFC and micro USB (although it doesn't bother me). I've had this phone for a few weeks and really can't fault it.

Very good price, is this new/refurbished?

New, I paid £30 extra from free a few weeks ago, that did include £10 top up which I really didn't need.
Its selling for $200 in the USA which is £140 but doesn't have some of the European cellular bands for that price.
It's either unlocked or sim free.It can't be both.
cracking price, better than the hihonor deal at the moment with voucher
It doesn't mention refurbished. So this could be a cracking deal

If you value screen size, metal built and cheaper ofcourse this one otherwise honor 9. The screen touch responsiveness on this one is excellent.
Is it worth paying £50 extra to get this or is the Honor 9 Lite similar to this?

I can see that this has 1GB more RAM and double the internal storage other than that not sure if one can justify the extra £50.
However this does come with bluetooth earphones which might swing it.

Unlocked = not locked to a network
SIM Free = doesn't come with a SIM card
"The main downsides is no NFC...".

I have owned several phones and tablets with nfc. My Sony sound bar has nfc. My Bluetooth speaker has nfc. My wife's phone has nfc. And neither of us have ever felt the need to use it. No, I tell a lie. My wife tried to set her new phone up to copy all her apps, documents, photos etc over by nfc from her old phone. And it didn't work because the new phone couldn't handshake with the old one. Ironically, the old phone detected the new phone straight away.

Forgive me if I find nfc a bit meh.
I had Honor 6x which I purchased in USA last August and updated to the Honor 7X a couple of months ago. Best phones I have ever owned.

I have owned Samsung's and Sony's (most recently Z5 Premium last year) and both Honors have been better all round, better cameras, better battery life and a fraction of the price.

In fairness I cant comment on comparative performance of S8 S9 other than these are over 2 to 3 times the 7X price dependant on the model. There are comparisons online so judge for yourself.

For the money it would be difficult to beat.

Decent phone but not much of an upgrade on my old Honor 7 which has a very very similar processor, 1 GB less RAM and a smaller 5.2" screen yet has an IR blaster which I use a lot. The CPU in the Honor 7 is very poor for gaming too and the 659 in the 7x is like only ever so slightly better. The 7x would have been a good upgrade if the processor was a big upgrade and introduced USB type C with fast charge.

Honor make some great hardware but the EMUI software and extremely rare updates really let it down. EMUI eats up a lot of RAM. This is why I'm looking at the Nokia 7 Plus as my next upgrade as opposed to this unless Motorola has something similar up their sleeves but it's not looking likely. OnePlus also is getting pricier with each release.

Another thing about Nokia is that, given their recent history, their prices drop pretty quickly so you'll eventually be able to pick it up for a bargain.

Not the same version, so not exactly a fair comparison given the US one has less ram and storage.

You know ‘100% to 200% the price’ in the context of this deal means your saying the s8 and s9 are £200 and £400, right? If you’ve found them that cheap and share, then you’re officially The Deal King of the phone category around here

I agree with you that the Honor’s are a great all-rounder and would also recommend them,
