Honor 9 Lite, Android, 5.65”, 4G LTE, SIM Free, 32GB, Sapphire Blue at John Lewis for £169

The Honor 9 Lite is innovative, stylish and packed with technology. Featuring a dual 13MP + 2MP front facing camera, as well as a dual 13MP + 2MP rear camera, the Honor 9 Lite seems far more ground-breaking and practical thanks to this pair, rather than some other ennui-suffering mobile phones which cost a great deal more. If that’s not enough, there’s a handy headphone jack, a memory card slot to expand the hard drive and a fingerprint scanner to protect your personal information.

Great qualities
32GB is a fair amount of storage, however with photos, music, your films and apps, it quickly fills up. Not to worry as the Honor 9 Lite has a handy memory card slot – pop in a memory card that you’ve previously purchased (up to 256GB) and away you go. Unlocking is easy thanks to the fast-to-use fingerprint scanner, located on the rear of the phone; one touch and away you go. Another helpful feature is the 3.5mm headphone jack – there’s no need to hunt for an adapter, you’re all set.

Super cameras
Thanks to its dual 13MP + 2MP front and rear cameras, the Honor 9 Lite will provide you with both high resolution and emmersive pictures to help capture your magic moments, no matter if you’re after some super selfies, or a beautiful panoramic landscape shot.

Big screen
With a 18:9 screen, the Honor 9 Lite gives you huge visual real estate for your gaming sessions or checking out your social media account. Additionally, the handy Screen Split function means you can watch a video, while still message your friends.

What is SIM free?
You'll receive an unlocked Honor 9 Lite, so there’s no requirement to commit to any network, leaving you free to decide which SIM card / network to use in the device. This gives you the opportunity to find the most suitable plan, whether that’s contract or pay-as-you-go, throughout the lifetime of the phone.

Our top tips: as this mobile phone is supplied SIM free and unlocked, you have access to SIM only deals – these usually give you far better value for money. You also have the option to add a foreign SIM card, so you can use this device overseas for less as well.

Additional information: manufacturers often update their Operating System (OS) software over the course of a device’s lifespan – this means that your product might ship with a more advanced OS than specified.

So want this phone....but can't find a grey one 😩
Great phone. I like the EMUI as well as I transit from iOS and it make it easier. All the pre-installed games and apps are removable.
This is very similar to the Huawei p smart, which has the better rear camera?

Amazon.it, Amazon.deThey don't sell grey or black in UK (stupid as f**k)

They list grey on Honor UK website but never in stock.
Brought when it was on for £159. Good phone with good specs at a great price. No brainer really

What's the main difference between the honor 9 and honor 9 lite? Am in thr market for a new phone as smashed my honor 8.
Got it from AO with a £20 marks voucher from a deal posted earlier in the week, as an Apple girl i am surprised how good it is, even hubby agreed it was value for money 🤑

The 9 has better camera, NFC, USB C and their version of quick charging, better processor.

If you can afford the extra £100 it’s the better device.

Very tempted, but my ageing Nexus 5 is still going strong and has a new battery installed.

I'm torn between a 9 and a 7x. I'm not too worried about fast charging or NFC, I've only used android pay a handful of times. The 7x has a better camera. I like my honor 8 but the camera doesn't focus very well, and it is £50 to get the screen replaced, and I only spent £200 on it last June. Better camera is my main focus. I don't mind if it charges slowly as I'm home most of the day and tend to charge phone over night

Time to sell my Huawei P8 lite 2017 and buy this..incremental upgrade lol.

I had this phone for a month, bought direct for £199 including the Bluetooth headphones.
I found the phone ran really slowly. Could have been something I'd installed slowing it down but nothing obvious. No games etc.
For example if unlock the phone, open the camera, change to video, start recording......by the time all that happened the moment was gone, 20-30 seconds. Perhaps something just wrong with mine and I didn't do a factory reset, just sent it back.
If I started the camera from the lock screen it often wouldn't have saved the pictures of taken.
I thought I'd got a bargain as was a really nicely built phone, just couldn't get past the software issues.

Interesting, because I had similar problem with huawei p9. I think I partly solved it by changing some of the power saving options. Sold the phone in the end because this never fully solved it and the phone camera lag became too annoying.

But these battery management settings are a nightmare on Huawei's - my wife's just got a new Huawei mate 10 pro and we're having real trouble getting always on apps like canary and life360 to stay running.

I did consider changing for the 7X but then noticed it had the same processor. Think a bit more ram though which may have improved things. No NFC on the 7X though which was an odd thing to leave off. I'm no fan of EMUI. You couldn't install the Google launcher as said was not compatible which was annoying.
This or xiaomi mi a1?
It comes with a case and headphones....

This or xiaomi mi a1?

The A1 has better specs and Google's security updates guaranteed.

The Honor is better looking, *may* have a better camera (open to debate), and you get the JL warranty. I'm personally a big fan of getting timely security updates, so I lean to the A1. But the Honor is a nice device at that price - no question. And Huawei isn't awful at updates. I mean, no-one other than Google is *good*, but my Honor 8 is on the Feb security patch right now and I can see that March is in testing.

The Nexus 5 was great in its day but you will find this a massive upgrade.
Hot, but I personally went for the aliexpress black version with 4GB RAM. It was about £150 with delivery. However, for those who don't like ordering from china, this is a great deal..

The SoC isn't much faster - we're not talking 2x the speed or anything, more like 30% tops - but the extra GB of RAM makes a gigantic difference in performance.
I've had the Honor 8 for about 18 months now but the battery isn't as good as it was.
Thinking of selling it on and getting this, how do they compare?
Any of the Chinese brands have better specs at this price. There is one Ulefone, I think which has a Samsung 21mega pixel camera.

I think the coupon is misleading, it says £100 but in fact I think it looks like it's only £20 off of each of the five phones. I could be wrong but double check

I think it will be things like a FP scanner and the screen that be the biggest initial upgrade. Over time, the battery as Huawei get more out of a 3000mah than others.

Will you get charged custom fee?

I have never paid any customs fees from aliexpress or gearbest. I ordered lot of laptops, drones or phones and never paid any customs fees. Delivery takes 2-3 weeks, but it's free. If you try to use a faster carrier (UPS, DHL) the seller sometimes recommend you to change it to a different, slower one to avoid the extra fees..
