No band 20 though.

Hawt. Unbeatable spec for the price. Whilst the bootloader can't be unlocked and the RAM is a bit tight it's still a GB more than other phones in this price range.

Provided GApps is supported officially then this is a good device provided you don't want custom ROMs or root.

Fully usable yes, though if you're on certain networks you won't get 4g all of the time

I went for the Redmi K20 Pro 6-128 in blue in the end. Mostly happy with it but I could see myself being happy with the 9x for £160 less... that said, I do like being rooted. Mostly for ad-blocking, running SBC at reasonable bit-rates and ViperFX.

But then again it would be nice to not worry about how pricey the K20 Pro is - glass screen protectors are a nightmare to adhere on it due to the slight invisible curvature of the screen, so I use a Hydrogel one + gel case and I'm super nervous about dropping it .

It does. Only the Chinese version gets the 7nm Kirin 810
Does this version have the rear mounted fingerprint sensor, or is it on the side of the phone?

On the side. The EU version gets the fingerprint scanner on the back.

I told my Dad to get one of these as his free handset with his cashback contract, I assume a UK spec handset has band 20, I thought modern handsets didn't have this problem any more though...

Is the 9x curved?

Nah the K20/Mi9T Pro is. It's impossible to notice but as soon as I put on a glass screen protector I noticed an air-bubble all the way around the surround of the screen; I tried a couple more and took to the internet to investigate. The Mi 9T Pro has a very gentle taper on all four sides of the screen instead of being flat. So it doesn't work with glass screen protectors unless they're tapered for it - and not many exist. Most glass screen protectors are sold with a non-descript 'oil' white edge filling liquid to fill the air gap but when you're sat with a 282 quid phone the last thing you want to do is slap oil on the oleophobic-coated screen (same reason I avoid the alcohol wipes included with screen protectors - they just strip off the oleophobic coating). Luckily the flexible hydrogel ones work just fine on it but most likely offer no drop protection.

Probably tl;dr and a bit off-topic but the more you know🌠.

Surely in your pocket this screen size is far too big? And also uncomfortable to use.

Look at the Xiaomi mi max 3 in that case, super cheap and comes with band 20 etc.
Many apps will not run without Google, that often being more important than band 20.

You are entirely right and this is the reason I don't like curved displays. At least on iPhones the curvature starts outside the viewing area. I got a curved tempered glass for the Note9 I was using but the edges are held with adhesive so you get a cracking/sticky clicking noise and it's so reflective... My S9 has a TPU type protector which are much better and self-heal but do pick up marks and impressions over time. Alcohol shouldn't take off the oleophobic coating though. The best tempered glass curved protector I've used is the Cinder one but it costs £40...
Anyone knows if this has Dual SIM support?
Had the 8X, was fine for 8 months then the battery went and they don't honour the warranty, waste of money, went for an A70 instead as at least it has a useable warranty.

Is there an event starting Monday? I picked up a 'like new' poco f1 6GB/64GB from Amazon for £140, so wondering if I should wait a few more days for a snapdragon 855.

I've got one of these and it's honestly an amazing phone and for this price, I'd buy 5 if I had the spare cash!
Only caveat with these is the lack of NFC so you won't be able to use Google Pay in stores with it, or other NFC features... But that aside, brilliant phone!

Switchy! I know there are a lot of people who would want to pick your brain on this, that or the other.
Am I right in stating that Mi Max 3 is for big hands/lovers of big screens but camera quality isn't the best? Also, older processor and all that malarkey?
For all other potential buyers, would you say it's still a good option in that price range. Considering it's 6/128..
Hukd AliExpress links normally take me to the Dutch sites for some reason...?

I have the Honor 8, which has been a great phone, but looking to upgrade. Really love the screen size, ideal for fitting into my hand and my pocket, so many phablets on the good. Any recommendations for something with a similar screen size?

The max 3 is for people who want a Phablet, best of both worlds, I had one and the camera is really very good for the price, obviously no wide angle and all the garb you get on more recent release, but still plenty good.

The processor is still decent new now, more recent releases are still coming with that particular processor, and if you've ever used an moto g7 etc. This performs better than those.

I'd say if you want a phone that can also be used as an tablet, this is one of a few that are a dying breed unfortunately, and still a super option now!
