Anyone tried running Ubuntu on this?
Also, can the ram be upgraded?
Installed Pop!_OS today. Entirely replaced Windows. Took longer than expected probably due to my flash drive i tried using initially. No major problems so far. Not sure I’ll be able to get the fingerprint reader working but that’s not much of a concern.

Overall a nice laptop. Feels cheaper than a MacBook but then again, it is. It looks the part. I’m very happy with it so far as a Linux machine.

I haven’t checked but i doubt you would be able to replace ram, it will be soldered in.

Ordered - they really don't want to accept credit card, tried 3 times with different ones so had to use debit in the end

Mine was delivered today - feel of it is great. Nice and practical. Storage is fine , if any issue then I'll just get an external hdd
I bought this too and it's lovely. Just curious though, is your SSD only showing 119gb + 98.7gb of total space?

Pricey for a phone manufacturers laptop. I'd spend my cash on a tough as nails refurb Lenovo Stinkpad
These are quality laptops, full aluminum body and look worth much more than they cost. They are mistaken for MacBooks all the time

Beautiful laptops, girlfriend loves hers but camera placement is quite odd
Depends if you're using the camera to pay off the mortgage

Great price, good laptop ♨️ Some great offers with Honor at the moment

Yes I think it has a backlit keyboard so I took a punt on this. Looks quite nice for the money. Space grey swayed it for me!

I much prefer AMD graphics to Intel graphics. TBH I think Intel drivers are a mess and I would never buy an Intel integrated laptop ever again. (edited)
    Agree on intel.

Everything is great about this, other than the webcam placement. Whoever thought that was a good idea is either 4ft nothing or male... Possibly both.

Really like the look of this. Value for money, how does it compare to this slightly more expensive machine for light browsing, YouTube videos, and university work?

Personally Im old fashioned and Id like a bit of screen real estate ...otherwise it affects my productivity.

The Asus has a decent enough processor for general duties i5 1135G7/ 512gb ssd/ 8 Gb ram/ and 13.3" Oled screen
but the smaller screen would put me off personally. The spec is slightly distorted with that amount of ram and the oled screen.

NB Ive edited the ram from 32gb to 8gb ...my mistake (edited)

The CPU is good but I wouldn't say it's magical, it's firmly rooted in fundamental physics!

    This or the Huawei D14/D15?
Is it not the same thing?

Does this have a backlit keyboard?

I bought the i3 version from a deal on here about a month ago. Absolutely love it, and the build quality and appearance are fantastic. That webcam though... Useless, I've had to buy an external one. What were they thinking...

Do people think that 256gb is sufficient storage for general home use, or would you go for 512gb for the space that the OS/partition takes up
It totally depends on how you use it. I suspect for most light use it would be fine, but if you are planning to install a lot of games, do a lot of video/ editing, or go mad torrenting videos then you will fill whatever space you have.

Can I ask what virus protection / software people would recommend on a laptop like this ….. total first time laptop owner if purchase this and worries about getting everything wrong 😫

Thank you in advance for advice .
Windows comes with Windows Defender which I think should be adequate.

If you do want to look into other free options, NatWest give you free Malwarebytes if you bank with them. AVG is what I used to use, they offer a free version, and was also fine.

I wouldn’t bother paying for Norton, Bullguard, Kaspersky or anything like that. If the machine comes with those (often a free trial but then they badger you to buy a subscription), I would be uninstalling that pronto.

But relax, I don’t think you can get everything wrong. Just don’t open any unexpected email attachments/, stay off the dark web and you’ll be fine

What do people recommend? This one or the huewei 14 please
I think some prefer this model over Huawei because of the backlit keyboard
    both are great/well built.
I also believe honor warranty is 2 years vs 1 on Huawei
