I bought this phone from John Lewis for £350 during the last flash sale. It's a cracking phone for the price.

For those of you who worry about updates, two updates have been installed since I bought it. The date of the Android security update on my Honor View 10 is now the 1st of March.

I've pasted my latest Pro/Con list below (based on my original reviews at johnlewis.com and Amazon.co.uk). It's the result of months of research and watching/reading countless reviews. To say that I'm a penny pincher and too thorough for my own good would be an understatement - just ask my wife.

Let me know if you've got any questions.

P.S. If you're in the market for a cheaper but still very capable phone with a surprisingly good camera I would recommend the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 from Gearbest/AliExpress.

PROS:
• Super fast Kirin 970 processor.
• Lots of storage space (128 GB).
• Lots of memory (6 GB).
• Lovely, crisp screen.
• Room for 1 SIM card + Micro SD card - or 2 SIM cards.
• Good cameras and software (many shooting modes for creative types).
• Very reliable face-unlock, except in near dark conditions.
• Super snappy fingerprint reader that works every time.
• EMUI 8.0.0 operating system (which corresponds to Android Oreo 8.0).
• Many useful tricks and features in EMUI that you won't find in the stock Android OS.
• Built-in Honor virus scanner.
• Big battery (3750 mAh).
• Very effective battery-saving modes.
• A function that lets you switch to a lower screen resolution to improve the battery life.
• Quick Charger: From 0% to 58% in 30 minutes. From 0% to full in 1:30.
• Metallic body and solid build.
• It comes with a transparent TPU case and pre-applied screen protector.
• Supports Qualcomm aptX codec (HD quality Bluetooth audio).
• White earphones are included.
• Histen audio option which improves 3D sound when wearing earphones.
• Good loudspeaker and microphone.
• Very fast, accurate and reliable GPS.
• Voice LTE on Three (so that mobile phone calls will use Wifi if available).
• NFC is built-in (Yes, it works with Android Pay).
• Netflix-approved phone so you can download films/series. Not all Chinese phones allow that.
• Receives updates every 2-3 months (Latest security update is from 1 March 2018).
• Two years warranty.

CONS:
• The screen can apparently get scratched (search for "Huawei Honor View 10 Durability Test" on YouTube to see what I mean).
• Battery life could be a tad better, despite the big battery.
• If Wifi, Bluetooth and GPS are turned on, it will drain the battery by a few % overnight.
• No optical or electronic image stabilisation when recording videos.
• Not dust or waterproof (However, it worked after being submerged in water in a YouTube video).
• It's a big phone and it weighs 178g. Make sure you've got deep pockets.

Better than a P20
Awesome phone & genuine bargain at this price. Great battery life & headphone jack point plus android oreo... Really pleased with mine & wouldn't now rush back to Samsung galaxy range 🏻

Better than a P20

Arguably yes, as it has 2gb extra RAM, micro sd slot and headphone jack to name a few things missing from the P20.
Had to return mine as it had a few touch issues, and would freeze quite a but, it really put me off this, I'm not denying it's a great phone however.
Now using a pixel 2 XL and wouldn't go back.

Fair enough. I'm using the S8. Great design, but speaker and bad RAM management let it down slightly. S9+ might be the one for me.

Samsung aren't for me, two biggest things, touchwiz and battery life.
Both shocking in my opinion.
Had the original note, and swore I'd never use a Samsung again haha

Can see that they are great phones, but just put off by them now.
Really want this phone but hanging out for Nokia 7 plus. Torn....
What's the camera like compared to the galaxy s7,s8, s9 are the photos comparable?

Exactly the same position as my iPhone 6 is finally playing up, not to mention my daughter dragging it along the floor and cracking the screen . I'm thinking the Nokia for the android one stuff though

Pretty good camera, but not quite up to S8 quality. No optical image stabilisation which might be important if you record lots of videos.
Super hot . Wish I wound't have brought Mi MIx 2 recently at @300 This one is much better
Edited by: "jaques_kalis" 14th Apr
Definitely hot. I can live without oled and wireless charging given the price plus a front fingerprint scanner is sweet but the lack of ois is a compromise too far for me.

yes this is a great price ! surprising considering that the handset were destined to go back up to !

"All honor phones currently are on offer, be it the 7x,9 lite, view 10 etc.

Still a tough call to judge ,you seem to be sticking to your guns on price rise though.. Seems like more of a guessing game with you then perhaps knowing for certain?
Anyhow unleash your sin.

Don't think it may not happen as most of 5t stock is gone due to the eminent release of the 6. They may put the price down when the 6 comes out if they have some old stock lying about.

There’s no honour in owning an honor.

What makes you say that? Because it's not a samsung? Huawei is the 3rd biggest smartphone maker just behind apple and samsung. I have the view 10 right and it's an amazing phone
Honor 9 available from John Lewis too, back down to £279. Great phone and updated to Oreo just the other day.
The Honor is the cheap version of the Huawei phones, and it does not get security updates in a timely fashion. For what you get, the price seems to high.
already bought from the CPW deal that was £339 top phone

Really? As opposed to say Samsung with their mid range prices and very timely updates!!
Nice price, would rather deal with JL than CPW. Tempted, but size of phone, and the camera put me off a bit. Would've liked to try to one out in person, but sadly can't find one in the wild anywhere.

I can handle having slow updates, I've got a G6 which is one of the flagship models from a major brand, and I'm still on an October security update and Nougat so....
No issue with updates, recently had facial recognition unlock added & works a treat... No other phone in my opinion at this price point matches the spec or performance & 2yr warranty.
Those complaining about updates. This has had two large updates since being released in Jan already. Recently received the March Security update too.

Just to point out that's two more updates than I ever got from HTC and LG and I've only had the phone just over a month.
