Weird... as I watched Youtube clips and they all seemed positive?

Unless it's a US/UK thing or a dodgy batch?

Gonna go in the collection anyway

Reviews seem pretty damning & bought from a variety of shops, so probably not a dodgy batch.

15 out 17 are damning. 1 of the only 2 positive reviews, the person doesn't play Street Fighter.

Have they tested it with Street Fighter in those YouTube clips?

Watched that video. He said he didn't have any trouble pulling off the moves - he had a LOT of trouble pulling off the moves! He messed up his fireballs/hurricane kick every other time

Now is that down to him being rubbish at Street Fighter or due to the pad, we won't know. But he definitely had trouble pulling off moves, despite what he says.

Maybe he should have stuck with E. Honda and his Hundred Hand Slap. That was easy enough to pull off.

Looks like the old style turbo controllers, but smaller

It's coming soon and hopefully will be fine. As he did point out, the reviews on Amazon aren't verified and all say the same thing about one game.

From what I could see, he seemed to be able to play and the whole issue with the diagonal direction being impossible doesn't seem the case as he was jumping all over the place and doing fireballs for fun.

It was £22.49, not exactly breaking the bank and it is endorsed by Nintendo, so it's going to be part of my ever growing collection anyway.

Until 8Bitdo release theirs at the end of the year, this is the best option.

Would be interesting to see more reviews apart from the Amazon US ones.

Anyone actually have one of these here?

No he wasn't doing fireballs for fun. I'm very much a Street Fighter fan & can tell he was missing a lot of fireballs & hurricane kicks.
Rewatch the video & keep an eye out for every time he does a random hard punch (straight punch) or random hard kick (roundhouse kick). This is him trying to do a fireball or hurricane kick, & failing.

What I can't tell is if he was failing because he's rubbish at Street Fighter or because the controller failed to recognise the diagonals on those occasions, causing he to fail to execute the moves.

Fair play.
He doesn’t seem like an expert in truth and remember he’s commentating while trying the controller out, so who knows.
Ultimately Nintendo aren’t going to put their name to a controller if it’s crap.
Will wait to see what it’s really like, but Hori are usually spot on with accessories.

I like the sound of release from other companies, lets hope Sega make a Dreamcast Mini with Skies of Arcadia 😁

Yes, Hori usually make very good accessories and have quite a lot myself.
I guess how much the D-pad affects someone, may also depend on how good they are on Street Fighter. Some who isn't very good may not notice, but someone who usually executes moves 99% of the time may struggle with the controller.

In any case, I've decided to stump up the cash for the 8bitdo SNES controller and the receiver. Almost double the price, but is also compatible with the Switch, which doesn't really have a decent D-pad on any controller.

Yeah the 8bitdo looks good, buts almost the price of the SNES mini itself! Wish they did them cheaper!

To be honest, I think Nintendo should have just made the SNES mini wirelessly controlled in the first place!

Well it's not too bad. Little bit over £40 directly from Amazon right now (not marketplace). A little bit cheaper if you get the purple 8bitdo instead.
Main justification for me is I can also use it on my Switch when Nintendo sorts out their Virtual Console. Still double the price of this, but this wouldn't work on a Switch so makes it an easier decision if someone also owns a Switch.

I feel bad as I got my email saying it’s been dispatched.
Seemed very limited supply and hard to get elsewhere.
Keep checking (if you still want one)
