Just to point out in case it's of use to anyone or saves some upset on Christmas day, but as the title says, this is 'O' gauge.

This means that it's scale is almost twice as big as most of the Hornby train sets that people will have at home (which will usually be 00 gauge), so don't expect to add it on to any existing train sets that you or your children might already have!

It's worse than that, it's not Hornby it's Lionel. It's also battery powered with plastic track (doubt you'll be able to get any more track or carriages, etc. Definately a 'toy' train, not a model railway.

Does this fit nicely around a Christmas tree? Looks like there’s 2 different sets.
One is remote control, both are battery powered plastic toys.

"Engine requires six C cell batteries (not included)

Controller requires three AAA batteries (not included)"

Add a chunk for that, every few hours of use (if you're lucky).

Battery's = hard pass. Especially at that price. Sorry.

It looks like it's actually made by Lionel which isn't surprising as Hornby don't make O gauge models.
