Found 6th Nov 2015
As per title this is the Hornby Santa's Express train set which usually retails for around £50, so seems like a bargain - especially if you're looking to run one around your Christmas tree this year!

Good find but the reviews don't look great
I really want to get an entry level start up set and I was hoping this was it? Ace price.

What exactly do the reviews have against it?
Man-child of 32 btw
The poor reviews were written by idiots that have poorer proof reading skills than me.
Great deal. I got an Amazon email plugging the Caledonian Belle. Nice little set, but £50+. So this is brilliant. Hot!
Seen in hawkins bazaar for 50 was tempted so this is a bargain ... I have purchased now your fault
Hot hot have some heat
Darn. bought this from argos a few weeks back for 49.99
Heat added, just bought to go under our christmas tree, at least with Hornby you dont need to change batteries all the time
Great Price !

Hornbys retail price is £69.99 and out of stock, Argos are showing £69.99 but currently reduced to £49.99. So that makes Amazons price a really good deal in my opinion.

Thanks
It's a nice little track for under the tree. We got one last year but we wanted the track to be circular rather than oval. The power connector is in the straight section of track so look on Amazon/Ebay for a connector for connecting the power to the rounded section of track if you want to go circular. This is the connector I bought from Amazon last year.

Having now read the Amazon description/reviews am I right to think that although this kit doubles as a fantastic Christmas decoration, you can also play, I mean 'use' it as a normal starter train set?

Yes, it's just a normal train set with a Christmas theme.
Sold! Honestly, this site... the crap I buy (_;)

Have some heat OP.
Cheers went for one, a piece of track costs £2 normally, so you've got £20 of track. These cheap sets are a great way of expanding or starting a train set.
ordered thanks op
Ordered to replace our rubbish holiday express set for round the bottom of the tree. At least this one doesn't play music
oos
yep just gone oos
it's now £46.99 !!!
Now 49.99!
Nuts I would have bought this

Says £36.49 from Amazon in the box on the right. I can't believe I am actually considering ordering it.
Oos at 36.99 but have ordered anyway, hopefully it will be back in soon! Nice find
I had no need of this but ordered anyway this site is lethal to the pocket
I got the Caledonian Express for my son last year, and the track layout is the same. Can you buy this christmas express train on its own?

On that page near the top, it will say "x new from £36.49". Click that link and you'll then be able to order it at this price from Amazon themselves. Although as others have said, they are currently out if stock so you may have to wait a while before it gets delivered.

They weren't Hornby obviously, but B&M had a version of these for £15 the other day.

Just looked on Amazon and says in stock in 22nd November. I'm going to hold out as it's an early Christmas present for my train mad husband and little boy. Fingers crossed x
Still nothing
I've just got cancellation email for my order. Was oos when I ordered with 'we'll deliver when available' message on Amazon listing. Now saying can't supply so cancelling.
