2815047.jpg2815047.jpgFor so long the lifeblood of the rural economy, Britain's sleepy rural branchlines and light railways were, for many communities, the only reliable link to the outside world for the transportation of freight.

This Hornby Western Freight Hauler Train set includes a small 0-4-0 tank engine, with a selection of wagons that were typical in the time before improved road access led to these services being cut in the 1960's. The oval track, with lineside buildings, adds a degree of realism that can be built upon with the addition of hornby tracks and accessory packs.

Heat for Hornby. Price is probably about right now for this set though. Seems to only be sold through Asda. I think Hornby do similar sets with different rail stock / carriages for some retailers so difficult to compare.

Its on amazon for £99.89 amazon.co.uk/Hor…Q2G

This is the price they normally go for if you shop around, the RRP is overinflated to make it seem like your getting a better deal then you are - they do this basically year round!

It’s still more then worth posting because if you don’t know then your likely to pay full RRP so heat added for raising awareness

This is an Asda only set set. I’m guessing an amazon seller picked up a few to punt at an inflated price. It’s a decent set for the price, RRP is a little high. This is nearly the same as the GWR freight passenger hauling set you used to get but it’s been discontinued. Great starter set for someone though so heat.

Yea it was at this price in very last year. Also wouldn't have hornby given anymore. Last 3 sets I've bought were all faulty!

Choo Choo, all aboard the overpriced trainset

I use swt trains most days so very familiar with what you say....

Hornby's quality is pretty poor for the price on their normal sets. Gave up with them years ago especially as they seem to have a huge problem in financing new sets with modern trains. We aren't all baby boomers wanting steam engines!

Honestly you're better off using Gumtree & eBay and spend the £60 on used stuff.

For that money you can pickup a nice selection of track & rolling stock especially if you shop around.

Track is dirt cheap from Hattons. I use peco flexi track in 1m odd sections then cut to size if necessary.

Avoid buying used Hornby points as they can cause derailment when worn.
