£3 home delivery (total £22.50) or free to your chosen store. £59 on Amazon, next cheapest £39.97 at Groupon (Stainless Steel). I've been looking for a toaster for a while, but want one that will toast my favourite Scottish Plain bread without me having to cut the slices up!

This 1000W digital toaster from Hotpoint features a modern design with a cream finish. Produce the ideal slice every time by utilising the extra-long and extra-wide slot, which can fit 2 standard slices of bread simultaneously. The slot size can be adjusted to accommodate different sizes and styles of bread, and a removable crumbs tray makes for easy cleaning.

The toaster features plenty of useful functions including defrost, reheat and cancel. The LED displays information clearly, including the 8 variable browning settings. With its functional yet simplistic design, the Hotpoint 2 slice extra-long digital toaster is the ideal toasting appliance for family kitchen.

Has cool walls, extra-lift system and warming rack. 2 Year Manufacturer's Guarantee. Hotpoint's "HD Line" (which is the range this toaster is part of) seems to be made by Whirlpool.

I've posted links to tons of positive reviews so I'm not sure what the issue is with this one reviewer. A review below "Mrs Shopping" says "wide enough for thick slices and tea cakes and long enough for all types of bread. Looks great and works very well a great purchase". Haven't seen any complaints about its two-slice description.

Sonic Direct has a review that says "A bit big for two slices, but will prove useful for different kinds of bread." And also the review in my first post that implies you can fit in all sorts "Amazing toaster, an extra long and wide slot means i can toast baguettes and ciabatta as well as two slices of toast side by side." so I'm a bit confused by that!

Unless Mrs Shopping is trying to toast two Plain Bread slices (which are much longer than your regular Warburton's), bearing in mind I haven't tried this toaster yet? Just a guess.

I'll see how I get on when I pick it up!
I needed a toaster too! Specifically one that'll toast whole pitta breads - thanks OP :-)
Thanks

If you're a penny-pincher (like me) seems you can ask for the £2.50 difference (the price when I first listed this deal was £22) - though this link implies Tesco do it automatically hotukdeals.com/mis…157

(thanks to mdekq007)

I bought a Kindle the other day from Tesco direct for £59. I've just … I bought a Kindle the other day from Tesco direct for £59. I've just called them up as it's now listed at £49. They have refunded the difference but I they also told me that they will do this up to 28 days after price changes.

For those of you on the hunt for a toaster that will do Scottish Plain (sometimes known as batch bread) - saw Waring "extra long/wide/deep" toasters recommended. amazon.co.uk/s/r…%3A!3147411%2Cn%3A391784011%2Cn%3A3147441%2Cn%3A11716951&qid=1453861968&sort=price-asc-rank

Also, Tesco's customer service can't be faulted - they phoned me back within an hour of me sending an email - they will process a refund as soon as I pick up the order.

This Breville VTT233 has two long slots (does 4 slices) and might do two slices of Scottish Plain at once amazon.co.uk/gp/…JQ/

At last a toaster to take Warburtons Toastie loaf...
I bought this last week at £22 after spotting it and thinking it was pretty uncommon to get a good looking but cheap long format toaster - we have a small kitchen and its a bit more work-top friendly to have it tucked flush against the back along the wall than the boxier 2-4 slot ones.

So far so good, looks nice and works, toasts well enough. Can't say much else after a week of ownership. The finish and plastics/trim etc are all nice and no cheap knobbly edges etc. Only gripe is that with the settings being digital, it doesn't remember them when you turn it off at the wall, so you have to re-do them every time.

Woo! And thanks to this I've also got my £2.50 back Oh I love HOTUKD sometimes...

I have a nearly 20 years old (!!) Kenwood toaster that has a long slot and all the features this one has - in the 1990s the most well-known one was the Tefal Thick N Thin toaster. Weird how this type is so hard to find nowadays!

My Kenwood still works but is starting to look its age. I'll likely give it to a charity shop.

My dream toaster would do two Scottish Plain slices simultaneously (Plain bread slices are much longer than Warburton's/pan bread). Don't think this one will either, but at least I won't have to cut the slices in half!

Edit: Picked it up. Seems more robust than the plasticky Kenwood it's replacing though the digital display is a reminder to ensure I switch it off at the socket (silly me forgets with the other one). More or less the same size cavity as the long slot toaster it's replacing, so it will do two Warburton's slices with ease, or 1.5 Scottish Plain slices! The older toaster is 1150W rating so hopefully it won't be a noticeable time difference!
