good price but make sure you pay for the added labour warranty as you will need it, how a once UK brand has been distroyed

It's the way they handled the situation that ruined them. I'd spend a bit more to get something like Hisense for £299 from AO
I bought this at Xmas for a couple of quid more and so far am very happy with it.

sadly it goes long before the dryer mess, back to the days indesit bought them, you have to feel a little for poor whirlpool who bought them for top dollar just before the dryer problems came out but by then the brand was already dying and really should be put out of its misery now

IMO even Turkish made Beko's ie.. 'lower end' appliance tend to last longer than the hotpoints.

I think the lower end appliances have come a long way over the years and the quality is much better than years and years ago. The gap is closing.

Budget Daewoo fridge = 5 years old not a single problem.
Budget Beko washing machine = 7 years old not a single problem.
Budget russell hobbs dryer = 3 years not a single problem.
Budget Tricity bendix cooker = 15 years old not a single problem (other than heating element which is normal).
Rubbish machine has spinning speed of 1400 but clothes are coming out wet,the wash cycle for a cotton wash is nearly 3 hrs,and don't forget to buy the extended warranty you'll need it after a year.
Poor quality did'nt last long , waste of money !!!!!

My hotpoint is still going strong after 8/9 yrars

I bought a similar looking hotpoint which died within 2 years.
And parents had another £500 hotpoint which failed after 3 years.

We only buy Zanussi's now, at least they last longer than 5 years.
Indeed, they do have a "name" when it comes to washing machines. I guess there were some reasons why Which? listed them on the brands to avoid list.

You can get the Hinsense 9KG model for £249 from AO. From the reviews it seems far more effective and reliable than Hotpoint - they used to be good but licensed their brand name out to trash manufacturers
Stay clear of this I only had mine 13 months then the Drum burst!

That's the reason I just had extended warranty put on mine last week.
It amazes me that anyone still buys hotpoint, Hoover and other brands that have such an apoiling reputation for unreliability. Yes such brands may have been reasonable 20/10 years ago, but a quick google search shows your just asking for trouble with one of these and have to go down the extended warranty route effectively making these machine far more expensive in the long run.
will never buy hotpoint again drum failed three times in three years. support is a nightmare parts took 3-4 weeks to arrive.
I have a Hotpoint machine, about 12 years old and UK built. Still going strong, wouldn't buy another one though as they seem to have shipped everything abroad and not built to last.
Good price but one to avoid, we have this and it broke down after 7 months (and has had to be fixed twice since then thankfully all under the extended warranty). Warranty has expired now so next time it breaks it's going straight down the tip and being replaced with a more reliable brand.

Because you bought it when Hotpoint was a high end brand.
Is it worth to buy i read lots of comments on amazon as well they say its amazing machine...
Here i saw bad comments...
I bought this machine in the xmas sales from Currys for around the same price. It unfortunately failed within a week, motor fault (code F02).
A real shame as we had a really simple Beko that lasted years before this one.
Hotpoint offered a replacement but we weren't confident it would last. Luckily Currys were really good, they gave us £50 back, plus 10% off my next purchase (though I did complain a fair bit for this).
We ended up going all out on a very flash Miele which we feel a lot happier with.
Another experience that really enforced the whole 'buy cheap, buy twice' mantra for us.
I have had this machine since December (from local company), still working, no complaints
Oh look, ill-informed folk spreading FUD.

Spend a bit more and go lg

Seriously save your money and buy something better,I regret buying this soon as I did a first wash using it.
HEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAT~point!!!
Lol

See wot i did there?

I bought one of these almost 2 yrs ago after my 8 yr old Candy machine gave up - (Never had to be repaired)
Within 4 months 2 of the 3 fins inside the Drum had come off - The Hotpoint repairman said it was caused by incorrect use (a bra wire had come loose !!!) 2 months later they sent me a bill for £80 for repair (out of the blue) I challenged it and they cancelled the bill - I was angry because, How many ppl have they got away with doing that to ??? The machine is now awaiting its 3rd repair (In 23 mths) to the drum bearings......Thankfully I have extended appliance breakdown cover with Nationwide bank which is well worth the money. I dont think I'll ever buy Hotpoint gain TBH.
Yeah I'll never buy hotpoint again- bought a similar washing machine years ago, great machine, never done me wrong, so bought matching hotpoint fridge freezer last year- it was expensive cheap crap.
After reading others very similar experiences with the new hotpoints it's clear to see the brands gone downhill fast, & now seems to focus on building as cheap as possible & maximising profit per unit sold.
It's a great price if its reliable, but sadly I think it's a risky purchase.
rubbish brand.
don't buy.
you will regret.

warranty won't save you from hassle of waiting, repair, etc
the wise thing is avoiding this unreliable awful brands and pay bit more for something decent like LG for example.

I buy everything with extended warranty, and have no problems with things breaking down and waiting ages for them to repair I usually get my repair done in a week, and the best thing is they replace or give vouchers if can't fix.i would'nt buy lg though another low end brand.

LG ain't low end, their washing machines are top notch and among the best in the world.
they make some budget low end stuff too,but generally they are decent.
