can't see the 5 yr part guarantee? They do seem to have a bit of reliability issue, if one went for the optional labour cover as well is one fully covered?

Hi - i know that Tribal offer "All Hotpoint products are supplied with the 1 year labour and 5 year parts warranty." Can't see it on the site, but give them a call and they will confirm

just bought a hotpoint elsewhere, you ring up to register and "activate" your 5 year parts warranty, at which point they say the parts guarantee is linked to a call-out of (I think) £135 per call, and why you should take out their (charged for) parts and labour guarantee. In other words the parts guarantee is worth very little. I think their paid-for full cover is with Domestic and General who in my experience are very good, but you may be able to get a better deal with the same cover elsewhere.

Looks a good price for the machine on its own.

Since Merloni brought the group off GE and moved all the production to Italy the component quality has considerably dropped these are not just turning up as rebadged Indesit's and the odd Ariston.

It's not a bad price but the 5 year 'parts' guarentee isnt much of a puller, quality of parts and build are what counts and sadly these are lacking now.

Our Hotpoint washing machine packed up last weekend and we've been looking at a new Bosch (WAE24366) at John Lewis for £419 with a free iron, plus the 5 year warranty extension for £129 extra. BUT £550 + £9.99 to scrap the old machine and £20 to fit seems very dear.

We then started looking at the Hotpoint machines and JL have the top of the range WMD960P for £349 with a free 2 year guarantee, but we were told that the current Hotpoint range are being discontinued.

The slower spin speed WMF740P is £329 at JL with a 2 year guarantee included. I think I'd prefer to buy from JL than Tribal !!

But..........are the Hotpoint's that bad?

hotpoint is rubbish now since they moved to poland. only good thing that comes from poland is their woman, who lived under communism so still have nice slim bodies, unlike the big mac eating fatties here. so forget polish electricals and just stick to the women.
