A friend has it and had been singing its praises. She paid a lot more for it though! Loads of great reviews online too

no longer available

Hotpoint/Whirlpool/Indesit are about the least reliable washing machine brands you can buy. You could be replacing this after only a years use assuming the parts and labour guarantee is only a year long. There are many better deals available. Many brands offer 5 year parts and labour guarantee's which brings the cost per year down to a far more competitive value.

You can get a Panasonic here for £250 approx with a five year parts and labour guarantee. Which is only £50 for each guaranteed year compared to 4x as much here.

hotukdeals.com/dea…956

You will also be getting a saving on electricity and water if on a water meter as the Panasonic is A+++ rated. Washing machines are big users of electricity and water so over a 5 year guaranteed lifespan this could be a reasonable saving. The Hotpoint could be in a landfill in 18 months.

The difference between A+++ and A++ is almost nothing, about a £4 saving per year.

Most Panasonics are rebadged Vestel's and no higher up the reliability charts

Vestel's are actually quite highly rated in turkey for their washing machines as for reliability charts I could never find one with Panasonic included for Europe but elsewhere they seem average rating. Also the Panasonic is based on their premium model not a budget offering.

Also I have a Panasonic washing machine and externally the build quality looks miles better than any indesit/hotpoint design. Yes you can't judge a book by its cover but its very heavy with a strong case and high quality switches etc. If Indesit/Hotpoint offered a free 5 year parts and labour guarantee they would be out of business pretty damn quick I reckon.

It hardly matters anyway because even if Panasonic were as dire as Indesit/Hotpoint you'd still at least have that 5 year parts and labour guarantee to make sure your washing machine lasted for 5 years minimum without additional cost to yourself except for the inconvenience of being in for the repair man. With the Hotpoint you'll still have that inconvenience probably more frequently and after 12 months they'll be charging you probably £120 a go for labour costs, that assumes Hotpoint still offer a free 5 year parts guarantee.

Just to put things straight, any electrical goods have a minimum of a 2 years warranty by eu law. This is regardless of what the manufacturer states.

Is that so? Good look getting the manufacturer to uphold that, without them stating there's a 2 year warranty

That's not a EU law we adopted though. Many good brands provide the same 2 year warranty in UK as mainland Europe and if you buy electrical products online from mainline Europe they have to offer the same terms and conditions as offered at the time of purchase even though it is sent to someone in the UK but for UK retailers they can offer 1 year guarantee's legally. That's my understanding anyway.

Only 1 year parts and labour with Hotpoint looking at Argos.

hotpoint are not reliable
they are not designed to last outside of the warranty period
just had a problem with the motor and circuit board on my hotpoint washing machine
machine is only a few years old.
had plenty of probs with dryer to

just tried..somehow the price now is 259.98 and after discount is 207.98.

Price is £207.98

cheeky home base have put the price up by £20!! typical of them to inflate prices when running a promo

not only have they upped the price, they've now reduced the discount to 15%

ridiculous
