If they don't get to the point and show who the mother is by the end of … If they don't get to the point and show who the mother is by the end of the current series (No. 6) I am done with this show. It was great for the first couple of series, but has become a bit pointless. Still £39.99 for all 5 series, bargain.

Quit now then eh if you haven't realised the name of the show is all about the lead up to it and probably may not show it until it ends.....otherwise I take it you assume they will just change the shows name to something else once he does and hope everyone figures out its the same show? Also by that statement you have endured the last couple of seasons just on the off chance it shows you Ted meeting his future wife? Really? That desperate to know? Why not stop watching and google the show every 6 months instead and save yourself the horror of watching?

Utterley pointless statement ......

Cheers guys & Thanks for the votes, Its now £30.99 at HMV wish I'd seen that before posting!

@rr54 There's the theory of the 'bump girl' in Season 3, but yeah lets hope so!

I hoped that they would get to the point where Ted would meet the mother … I hoped that they would get to the point where Ted would meet the mother and the story could progress, rather than slowly meandering between various events in Ted's past, occasionally alluding to the identity of the mother. This perhaps is a way of keeping the show going by the writers and producers. Programmes like Friends and Fraiser, seemed to go somewhere unlike a programme like this or Seinfeld, that however admittedly had no direction, as George says "It's about nothing". I think it would be a shame if the programme ended with Ted meeting the mother, either as a grand finale, or to tie ends up after its popularity drops off.Sorry to go off topic here

Some people just amaze me. Who cares who the 'mother' is? It's just a framing device to tell the story. It really doesn't matter that much. It's just a great show about 5 friends and their lives and loves.

Maybe they should've just called it Friends and then people wouldn't moan about not finding out who one of the characters ends up with.

If it makes you feel better then the cake maker in the first series was going to be the mother if the show got cancelled. But CBS keeps giving them money to make more shows because people like it. When that stops then I'm sure they'll rap it up.

It's not the only one, but it certain has more validity than others. The notion that all opinions carry all weighting is what they teach to the 'slow' kids.

Erm 30.99 at Amazon too. There are other sires apart from HMV and Play! Overall I think this comedy has quite a few more series in it.
