How to get Sainsbury's Coupons *before* you shop

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

Ever got annoyed that sainsbury's only print out coupons after you have paid, so you have to wait till your next shop to use them (or more likely lose them first, like I always do), rather than being able to use them on the shop you just paid for?

How to get Sainsbury's Coupons before you shop!
  • Go to a self service till
  • Scan your Nectar card
  • Immediately click "pay" without scanning any items
  • The till just dumps out all the coupons Sainsburys was due to give you (such as triple nectar points etc).
  • You can then use them immediately.

The self-service checkout hawk in my local will be practically sitting on my shoulder if I try this

I don’t use self scans they take jobs from people

Yeah I know what you mean. I don't use cars, I prefer to pay people to just carry me to the places I need to go.

It is i used to work for sainsburys recently

Did you get replaced by a self service til ?

I may be wrong but, I don't think that that's what duncanb1973 meant?, hehehehe

But fair enough. :-D
My nearest doesn't work like this, no option to end checkout after scanning the card.

So you never shop online? Erm ok
This doesn’t work on the new style self checkouts. Once you scan the card, it says thank you, then doesn’t light up the “pay now” until something with a monetary value is scanned! Good for the stores with the old ones still though
Didn’t work for me on the new checkouts.

If you care about people, then you shouldn’t shop in Sainsbury’s at all. Just buy everything in a corner shop nearby.

It said that the points will be added to my account on the first shopping. It never did. I think that they offer fake incentives.

I'm still waiting for mine and it's been weeks now and I'm always shopping in Sainsbury's I told a girl on the till she just said take it up with nectar!!!
It's always nice to see little 'deals' like this, but, unfortunately, they get swamped with people taking the p*ss!. I saw on Facebook that this even made it to the national press. Sainsburys/Nectar were never going to allow this to continue with that much publicity.

It's like the Tesco coupon thing all over again. Who remembers how you used to be able to use coupons in Tesco even if you didn't actually buy the item, as long as it was sold there? People happily went along saving the odd 50p here and there and probably spending more in the shop at the same time - then it was taken over by people who started cutting out wads of vouchers from free papers, and printed from here, buying things like crates of champagne and only paying 10p by the time they had handed over their coupons. So Tesco put a stop to it. The greedy few spoilt it for everyone. Same as always......
Didn't work for me... perhaps not due any...!?!?

I see your point but at my local the self service tills have better manners, are better educated and can give out the right change.
It doesn’t work on the new updated self service tills. They won’t let you process the transaction without an item in the list. Sherborne, Dorset have just been upgraded to these.
Asking at tills or customer service for a £0 transaction works though.

This doesn't work on any level. A human is not capable of doing what a car can; a human is capable of doing what a self-service machine can do and much more (provide conversation, ID check, remove tags...).
Thanks op

You are naughty
Joke is that 1000 years in the future there will be no jobs humans do.
The three times I've tried this (on the old self-checkout tills), it's never printed me any coupons.

In fact, at one point I used to get a triple points coupon pretty much each time I shopped, now I can't remember the last time I ever got a coupon.

Sainsburys be getting stingy with their coupons?

Don't worry - religious nuts will kill us off long before that
Didn’t work in my local store at self serve. Scanned my item and the only button ‘checkout’ was greyed out.

Tried this yesterday, doesn't work. After scanning the clubcard it's acknowledged but the 'PAY' button is greyed out.

Supermarkets scan websites like these for glitches people poor people find. once they are found they fix them.
Not applicable in Scarborough, tried it and made myself look a numpty when it wouldn’t let me click the pay button. Walked in and out empty handed

All you are doing is paying more to keep these people in their obsolete employment roles. Is a job really a job if a person doesn't actually need to do it? I could charge £1 extra on your shopping in Tesco to keep a man employed at the door to offer to punch you in the face, you may decline but you still have to pay the £1 for the unwanted service. It keeps someone in a job, but no one needs what they are offering. Sound good to you?

Same lol
Found out you could just pay for 1 item and get the coupons

They also create jobs. People have to design the machines. People have to manufacture the machines. People have to write software for the machines to work. People have to maintain the machines. People have to monitor and assist people using the machines. Embrace change. Technology creates new job opportunities as fast as it takes them away
99 problems ........and wasting paper on coupons i might not even need aint 1
Doesn't work in Witney. I've always scanned the cheapest item, paid for it to get vouchers then put all my other stuff through and use vouchers
Awesome! Trying this out next time I'm in!
Have they closed this loophole now ?
