It depends on what people are blogging about. There are many people out …It depends on what people are blogging about. There are many people out there that share knowledge which of course we all benefit from every time we do a google search

My most read blog post had about 100,000 views and showed readers how to reset their Kindle when it stopped connecting to WiFi. Had 150+ comments from people thanking me for saving them from having to buy a new Kindle (Amazon customer support at the time was telling people "buy a new Kindle").

So yeah, bloggers can be cool

Find a subject you are passionate about, setup a blog (can be done for free).
Open an Amazon referral account and start adding items that you think people might be interested in on your site.
Open a google adsense account, put google ads on your site.
Try to syndicate (you blog for others, others blog for you)
Start a youtube channel, fill that with ads too, vlog about what you blog about.

If you write quality content, they will come.

I hate ads but if you want to make money on a blog, that's how you do it.
I’ve never understood why so many people chatter away about rubbish and how many people seem to read. Blogs seem to attract shallow and self-important behaviours.

each to their own of course

Imagine everybody blogging. Nobody would build houses or cars etc...

My point exactly
Of course
I didn’t say all are like that. Did I?
But there is an awful lot of rubbish out there, people prattling on about themselves and trivialities, as part of the “look at me” world. Last thing we need is more of the rubbish

Indeed vacuous comes to mind...
Heat
Could be a good read for newbies wanting to get started. I blog and attempt to earn a few pennies self employed through that and content writing elsewhere. I don’t think I could ever earn enough to pay the bills let alone replace a regular wage!

I used to maintain a blog 15 years ago. Started as a hobby but realised how lucrative it could be when the ad revenue from the blog paid fully for a BMW M3 within 3 years. Tempted to restart blogging.

Damn!
My brother keeps hassling me that I ought to blog (but more because my knowledge should be shared with the world as opposed to make money online). But now you are really getting me thinking...

Didn't know about the Amazon referral account nor have I heard about a syndicate. Good tips. Thanks.

You should create a method/course on how to make money blogging! Thats pretty amazing!

Majority of the people who write these haven't actually tried.

I started writing about my day and the things that I thought about through a typical day (essentially a public diary) after friends & family encouraged me. A friend who worked in Google told me about inserting ads since I was using Blogspot anyway, so had to figure that out. The rest was word of mouth and recommendations from many people who became regular readers.

The key, as I have learnt, is knowing a subject or two well, writing straight from the heart and producing content regularly. The latter is extremely critical as audiences are fickle and will drift away quickly in the absence of fresh content. Obviously, all this matters only when money matters. Otherwise, just don't look at the metrics if you want to sleep well.

There’s no irony. Just you thinking there’s a parallel But 1. Ukhd isn’t a blog, 2. Nothing I’ve said is self-serving or “look at me, I’m hyping my life”.
Nothing better you could have done at 1am no?

Do you go looking for these personal blogs that you hate so much? That's extremely normal behaviour, not at all weird.

Where did I say I go looking for them?
Also, I didn’t use such a strong term as “hate”.

trying reading instead of assuming and projecting what you want to read
