great deal

It's a really good deal but although I don't have one, I was thinking of getting one of these expandable hoses. I use a reel at the moment, and it works just fine, but the expandable ones seem to be a damn sight easier (albeit pricier) when I have used them at other people's places.

Much downsides to the expandable ones barring price of the better quality ones?

25m isn't very long. If they are going to supply a reel with 45m capacity, why not provide 45m of hose.

they do but costs more y would u pay for 45m when you need 25m? Good price I already bought one from screw fix I wish i didn't.

Have one and its v good but one downside is they're no good for a "quick squirt" i.e. you have to wait for them to fill with water and fully expand and then after you've turned the tap off carry on spraying to empty it. Can work out a bit wasteful.

Did you ever think about just turning the tap off and leaving it full of water? Then when you next spray, it comes out relatively quickly.

Not ideal for long lay off periods like autumn or early spring when the water might go stagnant, but works OK for me during summer.

Got the same hose from Tesco a couple of weeks back for £24.50.

Good bit of kit, 10 mins self assembly. Ignore the bad reviews

Was looking at an expandable one but read many bad reviews.
Main issues;
If you don't have the water pressure then the hose will expand, then when you use your gun the pressure drops and the hose shrinks
If you *do* have the pressure then they tend to burst after a couple of months.

Ended up with the £35 hoselock from argos with the spray gun and sprinkler

Doesn't that somewhat defeat the purpose of buying an expandable hose in the first place?

Hahah, I was scratching my head after reading your post

I try to maintain the habit of emptying the hose, as I'm always worried about forgetting to do it in winter and the damn thing popping when the water freezes

I bought the auto reel hozelock a little while ago, has anyone seen any cheap/decent spray gun attachments that will fit the hozelocks?

I bought one from Asda for £4, 9 settings on it and a pressure setting, red and green in colour, was sceptical at first but the Hozelock ones are so expensive, so I opted for the Asda one, its brilliant, does not leak either which was my main concern.
And its fitted to my Hozelock equipment.

The ALDI ones are like £4 each and fit fine.

First Review on B&Q website

"Simply awful. I have used this twice and I'm not sure if it's going to work a 3rd time. I bought the correct tap fittings etc and the hose connected to the tap without any issues the first time. After that, the hose had somehow stretched too much around the fitting (even though it wasn't in use/had been touched?!?!)

I'm going to buy one for it's purely magical properties

Because yours is the only one that matters?

I reserved one of these online early this morning at my local store. I just got a phone call saying there are no more left, sold out at lunch time. I said hang on I reserved early this morning so why hasn't one been put aside? She had only just got to my reservation request to deal with it and so in the time it sat there waiting to be dealt with they sold all the ones on the shelf. Not impressed at all

So don't rely on reserving one being there for you if you reserve on line, the only thing i'm pleased about is she rang me to tell me as I was just about to go out the door to go and pick it up.

They are on clearance so won't be getting more of these one in at this price.

Not on clearance, it's a promotion until the last week in July.

Ordered and got a call 15mins later to say its ready for collection.
I've got 30m just needing a holder and there around £20 for basic one so this with fittings as well can't go wrong.

You would also be left with a very long and rigid hose full of water. Instructions clearly say to let it run dry so it retains its elasticity. Otherwise I quite like it as it is extremely small and light when empty - fits into a shoebox.

I got my gun from Lidl's on offer at the moment for £2.99.It has different functions on it too:)

Edited by: "Dalkirst" 7th Jul 2014

Think I'll check to out the Lidl Gun as I don't have an Asda near me. Cheap ones fine as the Mrs will likely leave it out over winter and destroy it

Says £34.83 on the website now.
