As an owner - Dismount over winter and store somewhere dry. The whole mechanism is a large wound steel strap spring. Lots of issues with them snapping within 12-24 months due to rust even through minimal use. Take it off and dry store it, no problem. Equally, ideally fit in an area that is a barrier away from the elements.

Do you think this would be ideally located inside a garage behind the roller door?

Exactly.
I have the 40m one (got it a few years ago for £100. It was absolutely fantastic until after one winter it started leaking internally. I assumed there was a split in the hose so removed some and reconnected - still leaking so presume the plastic internals have cracked, but can't seem to find spares or any Youtube help
Tempted by this.

This is an interesting point. Mine has lasted years but having said that it was located in a garage. I was about to site mine outside due to moving house but now you have made me think twice. It makes complete sense. Also if you leave out over the winter then it will break seals etc as the ice expands. I'm now gonna have to get a plumber in to provide me with a water supply to my garage. Glad I came across this, you have saved me some money in the long run. Thx
These are fantastic by the way. Once you have had one you won't revert back.
Tip- when reeling it back in let it pass through an old rag in your hand. Stops it going slimey or gritty. Heated and recommended,,
Love mine. 5 year warranty when you register online.
