Great little machines, and the TN panel isn't r really an issue, just make sure you adjust the viewing angle correctly! I had to buy 2 last time these were offered because my son pinched the first one - he uses it for his work, using Google sheets and office programs. Quick start up, amazing battery life, recommended!

I upgraded to an allegedly used 14 inch one with IPS panel for around £99. But when I received it, it was unmarked and the system showed it had only been charged once - in other words, it was brand new.

I think a lot of these are customer returns who don't like chrome, and send them back. But chrome does everything I want it to do! (edited)
Are you able to use Microsoft Office programs on Chromebook (not online)? It seems Microsoft discontinued Office products on ChromeOS.

Automatic updates to Jun 2026, the A4 CPU isn't the best but for homework, browsing, netflix and the like perfectly capable.

    Heat added!

Edit. HP says this comes with either a TN or IPS display both at the same resolution. Currys website states this is a SVA display. So a bit confused. (edited)
SVA means a TN panel with HP. Stands for 'Standard Viewing angle' so it's likely that.

If you're happy with a grade A1 'refurb' open box get the newer HP 11a with the MT8183 processor 4GB RAM and double the storage at 32GB, often under £100 too - hotukdeals.com/sea…183

Does it have a touch screen, thinking for elderly parents (a.k.a me)?

At that price it's good for browsing
My thoughts exactly. Would rather browse on this than a tablet.

4GB of RAM is more than sufficient for a Chromebook - a steal at £89!

Yeah I looked at this thinking it was another cheap but futile deal because it would inevitably be a 2GB model. Good surprise to see it's 4GB. Should do your basics tasks no problem. Screen resolution isn't the greatest but fine for this price.

    Ordered, thanks

Its good that its spill resistant because there is a chance that if it goes wrong after a few months when you take it back they will claim it's water damaged and they will send you away and then you will have to take it to an independent outlet to repair it. (edited)

can you play Minecraft on this?

I'd have snapped it up if Microsoft hadn't blocked Android MS Office from installing on em

This is better than both, used £55 with updates up to 2026. It just needs a standard USB charger:

I really don't rate chromebooks at all and your making alot of compromises. That said this thing is at a good price point for a new machine. If you need somthing to efficiently do a few tasks productively this is great. Not as good for just watching content because of the low resolution screen

Could you play Roblox on this? Looking for something simple for my son who will use this mostly for YouTube and Roblox
