Battery life seems pretty poor so far though. This HP is tempting for the newer spec and better battery life, but the screen resolution is a real let down... Advice please! Do I return the warehouse Asus and get this?

Laptop with poor battery is still usable. Laptop with this poor screen = unusable.

And only 1.5KG, not too shabby
How's this compare to some of the recent Dell outlet deals we have seen? I'm not after a gaming laptop, just a fast bit of kit for browsing etc.

Good spec vs bad screen.

Just dont get the quoted Dell 'FHD' screens because they are bloody awful, sent mine back it was that bad. How dell think they can get away with it is beyond me.

Not all of them are, we've got a few Dells, the 5570 is terrible, but the 7373 with fhd touch ips screen is stunning.
No idea why this is getting hot votes though, that screen is shocking. And tiny SSD with a very difficult laptop to get in to upgrade which also void warranty.

Yes but the bog standard quoted 'FHD' screens (anti-glare if i recall correctly) are awful, yet i have seen the ips dell screens and they put my surface pro to shame.

If you don't like the screen resolution of this, look instead the 14-bk153sa or 14-bk152sa. Nearly the same price, nicer chassis, nearly same specs but Full HD and 4GB ram. You can always (easily) upgrade the RAM but you're stuck with the same screen...
