My girlfriend wants a laptop for normal stuff like internet browsing, documents, but also wants to edit videos, perhaps with Sony Vegas. Could this be a good candidate?

God no. Unless you want to start 2019 single.

The A6 processors weren't great in their day in terms of IPC and they have NOT aged well. Combined with the molasses-slow HDD and she'll hate you and everything you stand for.

Unless she has the patience of a saint, the best you can hope for is her serving it to you covered in gravy, stuffed with Paxo, and with a steak knife through the middle. I can't understate how awful this machine is in general, let alone for video editing.

This laptop will be pig slow for EVERYTHING, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Swap out the HDD for an SSD and do a fresh install and it will be less awful. It's got a full HD screen and the integrated graphics are better than the lowest-end Intel graphics. That's the best that can be said for it.

For video editing you want Ryzen 3 or better, or 8th Gen i3 with an AMD or nVidia graphics or better, with an SSD at a minimum, preferably with both an SSD and a HDD.

I'm not sure what you think you're illustrating using the info in that image. The A6 is a 2C2T unlike the Intel CPUs in that image (which are 2C4T or 4C4T).

And while the clock speed might make someone think they're "[not] that slow", clock speed alone doesn't equate directly to performance because it ignores IPC.

To over-simplify, you can think of it as "performance = clock speed x IPC".

If you've actually used one of these laptops in stock condition, you'd likewise realise it really is horribly and frustratingly slow.

Well i didnt mean it like your one just people always criticise deals no offense
I didn't vote your deal cold. I did my best to set realistic expectations for anyone looking for advice.

You may think my advice is incorrect or vindictive in some way. It's not.

In this deal, you've ended up arguing with yourself over a mild insult that YOU said.

If you don't know or don't understand, say so and ask. People will go out of their way to help you and explain. I've spent more time talking with you and writing this post than I have done browsing the site today.

I'm trying to help others and I'm trying to help you.

You've spent more time arguing with me about something you're wrong about.

Invest a little more time in your writing, calm down and slow down, and be a bit more humble. It's ok to say "I'm not sure, but hopefully someone who knows can help you out."

You can ask "Is this a good deal? This is why I think it might be, but I'm not an expert. Can people please weigh in and say good or bad and why?"

Your heart is likely in the right place, and you've got an eye for a deal. You've got more heat on your deals overall than I have!

If you find writing awkward and can't remember all the rules for punctuations and stuff, then look at something like Grammarly. It'll quickly and easily help you make your posts easier to read.

I realise that sometimes there are people who come to threads and criticize stuff they may or may not understand. The two problems here are:
- I demonstrated that I do understand, explained why you were wrong, and you took it personally.
- You gave wrong advice. "it has the speed for stuff like [video editing in Sony Vegas]"

This isn't a field you're a professional in, and that's fine. You don't have to be. But don't instinctively react to any criticism by trying to invalidate their criticism. And if you aren't sure about something you aren't knowledgable in, then don't pretend to be.

You can make a real positive difference here. Every £10 you help people save can be £10 worth of food for their family. It can be an extra couple of t-shirts so the kids look a bit smarter. It can be getting the kids the trainers they want. It's a good chunk of a driving lesson. It can be part way to an extra night on holiday, even.

It's awesome that you wanna help. Just don't undo your hard work by giving people the wrong advice.

I look forward to seeing more of your deals, that 200GB MicroSD card you posted back in 2017 was a fantastic deal.

Anyway, I hope you're having a great Christmas. I hope that 2019 brings you everything you need, and a good helping of what you want as well!

Yummy

you may not be able to get anything better for the price, but that does not make it a good deal.

You will be disappointed with the laptop. I have a better AMD laptop and I am so disappointed with it. After the inital setup and installations I have not used it. I hate using it.

Battery life is poor. Performance is poor. The screen is poor. hard drive - 1 tb is ok for the price. 4 gb ram and processor are only suited to light tasks.
