why does no one trust the cash back?

because they only have a limited amount of cash back in each tier, by this point the £150 and £100 will be gone so its a lottery as to how many will get the cashback, if you don't then you cant return the item and are stuck with something that probably is not worth its full price.

I've got this Chromebook and it's a lot better than I was expecting. The screen looks good, speakers are loud enough, battery life is great and I especially like being able to charge from either USB-C port. Only really played Minecraft locally (via Linux PE method) and that ran fine. Screen isn't bright enough for use outdoors though.

Is this a good or great offer? Yes, potentially!

Still even with the cashback risk factor, its worthy of 🔥 (but not a raging forrest worth)

    Humble thoughts?

It's ANOTHER 'cashback' offer that if you read the small print is arguably far from being 'guaranteed'. It has a few delayed hoops to jump through and requires many days (30plus infact) of waiting (that take the laptop past the point of return) before you can actually CLAIM and know IF the cashback will be given.

    Read the T&Cs

So again, whilst i give the offer some 🔥... I get the feeling this is very clever fish net marketing and many more buyers (fish) will end up with a laptop they won't get the promised cashback for, nor will be able to return it?

Its a RISK and its alot of small print.

But, hey...its a gamblers world nowadays.

Once again, GOOD DEAL (IF) the cashback is given, especially if the 7% Quidco registers against the actual pre-cashback price paid, and if the official auto update date terminates well into the future! 🔥

My humble opinion only, so do your own research etc.

    Good luck! (edited)

I think the promotion is going to lead to a load of unhappy people and reputation damage for Google unless they dig deep and pay up for all the claims. In Currys stores the stickers in big letter announce the cashback imo burying limits on the numbers in the small print will not go down well with consumers. Expect to see this in the media. Anyone remember the Hoover free flights fiasco...

Very similar to the Acer 314, both benefitting from the same cashback value/lottery. (edited)

People should buy things they really need. My kids need a computer for school so I picked up a Chromebook on Saturday and hope to get the discount but if not nobody forced me to buy it. Still.would be nice to get the discount. It limits up to 3 claims per person. Schools use them so thought the kids would benefit with one at home

The interesting aspect is that £100 or £135 defines the more premium Chromebooks and in instances like this lowers the price below the low end models.

I wonder if they will pay £35 cashback if the £100 cashback has run out.

The promotion may be be oversold and they may try to reduce the payments however Google are already under investigation for monopolistic behaviour the very last thing they need is hordes of ordinary people complaining that they've been shafted by Google. "Don't be evil" was the slogan they used years ago. The cost of this promo is around 3 or 4 million so if it goes to double it is not a material amount compared to the reputational damage which will ensue from refusal to pay. It would be very easy to track the number of claims in the pipeline there is no excuse for willfully allowing people to buy when the quota is exhausted.
