Excellent spec for the money, core i7 for 350 quid. Was 500 pounds. Bargain.

Good price but mixed reviews. Probably the reason why it's heavily discounted.

8.2 / 10 average score. I don't see that as "mixed reviews". One of the bad reviews says "lags sometimes". Clearly they don't know how to use a laptop let alone review one.

For that price you'd take the rough with the smooth or if really concerned pay another 150 pounds for similar specification?

Very good can it game

low resolution screen

Can anyone find a store with one in stock?

Good price but remember that although it's an i7, it's a dual core U series and in many ways is similar in day to day performance as something like an i5 6500u and I doubt you'd actually notice much difference to an i3 u series. What would make a difference is if this thing had an SSD drive in it.

Their advice, buy expensive anti virus and firewall software,

OOS

nasty screen resolution

Screen lets it down with low resolution - 1366 x 768 - nowadays doesn't cut it - and (presumably?) no touch support.

If you can live with this then it's a great deal imo!

looking for one with an SSD.

not a real deal IMO.
low screen res
HDD with only 5400rpm
dual core processor

I would expect already two of these at this price with perhaps i5
full hd
add or 7200 rpm
quad core

I would like a longer guarantee with an HP laptop as in my experience the home ones soon develop problems. I wish there were more SSD deals about, as this would probably make a laptop faster for many people than focussing on the processor.

Even for a dual core i7, its an amazing price.

Absolute bargain for a latest gen i7. Down sides are screen res and no SSD, but you can't expect perfection for £350. A little to bulky for my liking too, but overall this is a very good price.

Great for the price, but annoying that it's got such a good processor but a lower res screen. If this doesn't bother you then its a really good deal

resolution is not bad for a 15", it's up to individual taste. I prefer a 768 on a 15", native 1080 on a 15" is small

No dedicated graphics card so not really. Minecraft/Warcraft, simple games and games from before 2010 I would suggest

wut? how many laptops with quad core new cpu and 1080p for 350quid can you link to?
the 7200/5400 rpm thing is not in the same league as those factors so almost irrelevant here

That i5 version is even better value though - can almost get this just to plug into a good external monitor when needed

This isn't a quad core, so don't see that it's worth the extra over the (much) cheaper i5 version.

only stock left is in inverness

Neither really, was just clarifying in case people read your comment and thought this was a quad core

i expect was just you that read it that way

This computer was blatantly a marketing exercise of putting one very high spec component in it (the Core i7 CPU) matching it up with budget hardware and seeing what stuck or if people even read the rest of the spec. As others have noted, it's still decent to have a current gen Core i7 and the U-series are fast but they are nothing more than higher clocked/binned silicon from the i5 of the same gen. Given the choice I would sacrifice the i7 for an i5 and a small SSD.

Hopefully AMD Zen/Ryzen will give them a much needed kick up the *rse.

I think the i5 for £255 sounds better value..
