Not quite as good as the JL i5 lappy from today that got cancelled, but seems decent spec for the price and £100 cheaper than other websites. Quad core intel cpu too.

Not really better is it. That laptop doesn't even have full HD display?...

Without putting them side to side, there's no way of telling which display is better in practice.

Haha yeh ok.
Ok then. Clearly as you're such a pair of geniuses, what are you going to be doing with a low spec laptop like this that needs full HD?

Well for a start make use of the extra room on screen vs if I was using a 720p screen. Browsing, watching videos stuff like that.

Literally anything and everything... plus the LCD manufacturers don’t really make a ‘bad’ full HD display, they’ve all got half decent colour reproduction and contrast whereas you don’t have to go far to find a bad HD (720p) display with washed out colours and grey blacks.

Saying because a laptop is ‘low spec’ you don’t need or want a full HD display is crazy... Have you not seen the number of people looking for low cost netbooks with 1080p displays on here?

"plus the LCD manufacturers don’t really make a ‘bad’ full HD display" . Really?
The only way to know is to try them side by side using them for what you want to use them for. Condemning a low spec 15.6" laptop on the grounds that it doesn't have HD is pathetic. It's at a price point. Accept that.

Can't say I've noticed. Are they finding them?

Clocked lower, half the cores, 720p display, 1x less USB 3 port. In no world is that objectively better.

You keep dreaming eh.
Can’t understand your comments, too techy for me. Is this a decent alternative to the JL. Looking for something around £300.

Yes. Really.

Because by their nature they cost more to make so why would LCD manufacturers make full HD displays and make them badly - please show me a particularly bad full HD panel. HD 720p panels have become the norm so these are bad and made to a price point.

Yes, 1080p netbooks are a thing, look up the Linx 14, EZbook Jumper 3 Pro, etc.

I suggest you stop digging yourself a hole as you don’t have much support on this... 1080p panels on low cost machines are in relatively high demand. I don’t need to look at these side-by-side.

There are some really bad full HD displays out there, these have very poor viewing angles, washed out colours and a lack of contrast.

Absolutely no logic in that comment whatsoever.

You mean like your entire premise this whole thread when realising no-one was backing your claim that the Lenovo was better when it isn’t?

I agree there are ‘relatively’ poor ones but I will argue that they are better than the even ‘average’ HD ones.

It has onboard graphics mate so not too sure. Best to Google the graphics option it has.

I would guess it could play it assuming Sims 4 isn't that taxing. The onboard gpus tend to be able to play old steam games ok.

edit: It gets like 100fps but that's on low settings and at 1024x768. Unfortunately the tests don't show what the fps is at 1920x1080 on low settings.

A poor FHD panel will likely be a TN panel, whereas for the same price you could get an HD IPS panel. If image editing or videos are important then the lower res IPS panel will look a lot better imo

Ok that’s fair enough - but I haven’t seen a situation where the offering for a given machine is an IPS HD machine or a TN FHD panel. And I would probably take the IPS option as well if it were a tablet or similar where I’d appreciate the viewing angles and improved colour reproduction.

However, here, both panels are TN units.

I know it should probably have a gtx 1080ti included at this price but I just couldn't for life of me find a laptop like that.

I have failed...

I will be buying my son a laptop this year he web surfs and plays games from Steam I'm not sure how graphic intensive the games are but I don't think he plays the latest graphic rich games, could anyone point me in the direction of a good brand to buy,I would be hoping to spend £400 but less if possible, and maybe a little more if I have to
