This is not a bad price considering it is Full HD and 256 GB SSD. It has been on offer before with a 3 year guarantee, now 2 years as standard but was a little higher priced. It has an AMD A12 so clearly not Intel before anyone starts to comment negatively on that. I would say it is reasonably well built and cannot agree reviews that say otherwise. At the price you are getting a fair bit for your cash.

For people who don't know much about the Cpu the exact cpu is AMD …For people who don't know much about the Cpu the exact cpu is AMD A12-9720P.It seems to be better then the i3-7100u but not as good as the i5-7200u. Close though. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp[]=3043&cmp[]=2865

I forgot about the 8000 series that Intel does if you can grab a laptop with one of those cpus then that is great. They have generally added two cores to their whole range.

VS i5-8250u (couldn't compare i3-8xxx)

Excellent

I bought this two weeks ago at £449.95 with the 3 years warranty so I should get £20 back as part of the price promise
Shame the SSD is a bit small really, it would fill up quickly.

Got the same laptop for my nephews, but with A10 CPU, 4GB of RAM and 124GB SSD from very for £280.

Cracking laptop for the price. RAM and hard drive are upgradable

EDIT: A10 and A12 meant to be slightly slower than core i5, but they got better integrated graphics

Now this is a decent deal. So much noise in this price range.
Interested to take the plunge on this one but some reviews say its cheaper and plasticy. Anyone know if this is the case?
AMD = A Mad Decision
This one from currys is cheaper and I think is better..40£quidco cashback too so 359...

Just from what i can see on that picture, it says let down by lack of RAM and no SSD

I'd therefore assume it has 4GB ram and standard HDD, i'd rather pay the extra £30 for this despite the difference in CPU

I have a ssd from my dead Lenovo..and 4gbram too..but I don't know if I change this, warranty will be void? Or in case something happen to laptop I can put back the stock ram and hdd before I'll take it for repair..?? Any thoughts?
Used to work in retail and any time you open up the laptop to upgrade, the warranty is void. Of course, everyone knows it happens and as long as there is no evidence to show it has been opened then you'd be ok with warranty.

Having said that, you don't know which way a manufacturer would be able to tell you've opened up the casing so you'd have to go in with your eyes open knowing there is a risk

Yup bot I have those 2..wich processor is bette?
OK so has full HD, decent cpu, decent ram, decent SSD.

There must be something that people will complain about and vote cold.

Can you install a second hard drive in it?
Just ordered. This is a good price for this laptop. £20 cheaper than earlier in December and that reached 630 degrees although it had an additional year warranty then.
The SSD size is fine unless you plan on installing lots of games. Happy with 8GB of RAM and decent CPU.

You may get 3 years according to the post higher up, check your email.
Just ordered one of these. Everything states 2 years warranty rather than 3.

Just had the warranty email. 2 years.

I just have. Send them a message.
wonder why I got 3 years then... but hey won't complain...:-)
I have had mine for a week now and the amd seems to work just fine. Its fast enough for what I use it for. To be honest it is a bit plasticy but its to be expected at this price range.
The ssd makes the laptop feel faster than any i5/i7 on a standard hdd. Windows on a hdd send shivers down my spine .

Now im undecided! I was originally looking at the Currys Lenovo
hotukdeals.com/dea…772

The Currys has the 2TB HDD instead of the SSD, however I would prefer the SSD. - Guessing this is why the JL one is also lighter. Also although it will spend most of the time plugged in, the battery life on the JL one is better.

Only question is, is the AMD Radeon 530 (JL) better then the R7(Currys)?

I've ordered both, just need to decide which one to keep!

The i5

That i5 is not the 7200u, wish it was though lol

Windows 10 takes a while for all it's initial updates. I let it do them overnight and if possible connect to the network using an ethernet cable.

Pls update with thoughts on the laptop once it’s up and running. Thanks

Had a couple of hours on it last night after it finally updated with falls creator etc. It's a very lightweight laptop, bordering on flimsy. Almost tips over when it's sat on a flat surface with the screen well back. My workhorse Dell e5470 despite being smaller and similar spec is a much sturdier unit. But maybe I'm not comparing apples with apples.
In terms of speed, it performs how I'd expect it to with the ssd. It did have one random restart which I'm hoping was a one off. For the money I still think it's a great deal if that's the spec you're looking for. The hd screen and speaker quality is pretty good as far as I'm concerned.
Would this deal, or the one here:
hotukdeals.com/dea…025

Be better for someone going to uni? I'm leaning towards the CPU being better on the other, plus the cost of an SSD on here should be enough I'd think...

Do you mean you can put a larger M.2 drive in, or is there space for a 2.5" drive?
Been waiting since black Friday to see if it would be reduced further, bingo! Just ordered, collect tomorrow Hot!
I paid 450 for this the last time it was on offer. Anyone know if I can ask for the £30 difference as per their 'Price Promise' or is it technically a different product as when I bought it, it came with 3 years guarantee compared to the 2 on offer here.

Me too. Already had my refund.
I bought this laptop and have owned it for a week now.
Pros:
Paired with the SSD, it’s nice and quick.
Full HD screen, really impressed with it.
Speaker quality is excellent.
Very lightweight.
Great value for money.

Cons:
Takes a while to install all the updates.
Fan is quite noisy initially.
