Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere - I did look and couldn't find this laptop mentioned in either a standalone deal or the main John Lewis Black Friday thread

I missed out on the impossible-to-get-one Dell DoorBusters Deal and wanted 8GB, Full HD and an SSD and found this at John Lewis.

It was also in the Telegraph's Best Buy section too, if that helps anyone:

Was looking at this and hovering over the buy button earlier but decided to see if it crops up here and gets rave reviews.

I did look at both but cheapest I could find for MacBook Air was the Amazon deal at £791 but that's showing as out of stock and an unknown restock/delivery date.

I've just looked at the Refurbished area of the Apple Store and there are no MacBook Airs on there, at the moment:

apple.com/uk/…mac

So, it's £949 from the Apple Store direct - not sure of any other offers, Alan..

how do deals like this get down to 25 degrees with no one writing any reasons ??

Can I transfer my Office license over and ditch the 365 subs?

if you already have office then i'd imagine you can just install on new pc with old license code, then buy the same laptop £20 cheaper without office 365 -
johnlewis.com/hp-….ds
plus this has a 3 year guarantee - can't see how long OP is but think it will be 2.

I thought with the specs it’d be much higher but at least it’s gotten a little hotter since you posted

I would expect it to be the usual 2 years..another good reason

What are everyone’s thoughts on this? The specs look good for the price, but don’t know much about AMD processors. This is near the top end of my budget, are there are any better deals out there today?

the same laptop at john lewis but without the office 365 bits is £479.95 but has 3 year warranty

What's up with this? I'm curious

Would this processor be as good as an i5 new gen?

Me too. Getting splinters sat up on this fence. No one is slating or praising.

Benchmark for CPU: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+A12

Thanks for finding that out.

as for the other enquiries, I’ll let you know what it’s like when I pick it up tomorrow which probably won’t help you today, sorry..

Comparing to HP G6 on ebuyer for £450

This one is without the Microsoft package

Would probably doesn't the extra and get the Microsoft package but is it actually full HD? Seems to have been some doubt

Are the (albeit initial) scores in?

Used it for 24 hours and very impressed - really fast and the screen is pin sharp.

Just ordered for my little brother who wants to become a software engineer as well. So yes this has more than enough power for programming and even CAD software and should be decent with games as well. I think this is more than a good start for him and with the ssd it should be pretty fast. I think it actually has better specs than my current macbook pro. The AMD-12 is slightly above an i5 and belowe the i7. What I care the most is having a good battery life and if it's anything like my previous job HP it should be something above 4h which I'm happy for in a windows laptop (compared to macs which usually can handle at least 6h).

This also has a AMD Radeon 530 Graphics card (2GB DDR3 Dedicated). I bought the G5 from Ebuyer and now I'm in 2 minds!
The AMD CPU has a lower mark than the G6 but only marginally. I don't need a dedicated graphics card 2bh?????? Also surprised why this didn't get much heat! Didn't even see the post until today!

I was wondering the same thing. Have yet to buy one or the other, the offers still appear to be on but don't want to miss getting one ><
